The twelfth winter. Ten thousand enemies wait below a snowy pass, and General Hua has only two thousand men and one idea.

- Narrator 第十二年的冬天，雪下得很大。天快亮了，山口外边都是敌人。
Dì shí'èr nián de dōngtiān, xuě xià de hěn dà. Tiān kuài liàng le, shānkǒu wàibian dōu shì dírén.
In the winter of the twelfth year, the snow fell thick and heavy. Dawn was near, and the enemy filled the land beyond the mountain pass.
- Captain Li 花将军！你看山下！敌人太多了！
Huā jiāngjūn! Nǐ kàn shān xià! Dírén tài duō le!
General Hua! Look down there! There are too many of them!
- Mulan 有多少人？
Yǒu duōshao rén?
How many?
- Captain Li 他们有一万人，我们只有两千！我们守不住了！
Tāmen yǒu yíwàn rén, wǒmen zhǐ yǒu liǎngqiān! Wǒmen shǒu bú zhù le!
They've got ten thousand men, and we've only got two thousand! We can't hold them!
- Mulan 山口很小，雪很深……山后，还有一条小路。
Shānkǒu hěn xiǎo, xuě hěn shēn… shān hòu, hái yǒu yì tiáo xiǎo lù.
The pass is narrow, and the snow is deep… And behind the mountain, there's a little path.
- Mulan 别怕。李大哥，让大家守在这里，多点火，多打鼓！
Bié pà. Lǐ dàgē, ràng dàjiā shǒu zài zhèlǐ, duō diǎn huǒ, duō dǎ gǔ!
Don't panic. Captain Li, have everyone hold here. Light lots of fires and beat lots of drums!
- Captain Li 那我们呢？
Nà wǒmen ne?
And what about us?
- Mulan 我带一百个人，从山后的小路过去。
Wǒ dài yìbǎi gè rén, cóng shān hòu de xiǎo lù guòqù.
I'll take a hundred men along the little path behind the mountain.
- Captain Li 一百个人？太少了！好吧……一百零一个！我跟你去！
Yìbǎi gè rén? Tài shǎo le! Hǎo ba… yìbǎi líng yī gè! Wǒ gēn nǐ qù!
A hundred men? That's too few! Fine… make it a hundred and one! I'm coming with you!
- Mulan 好！跟紧我！
Hǎo! Gēn jǐn wǒ!
All right! Stay close!
- Captain Li 放心！十二年了，我一直在你身边！
Fàngxīn! Shí'èr nián le, wǒ yìzhí zài nǐ shēnbiān!
Don't worry! For twelve years, I've always been right beside you!
- Narrator 天亮的时候，木兰带着一百个士兵，从山后冲了下来。
Tiān liàng de shíhou, Mùlán dàizhe yìbǎi gè shìbīng, cóng shān hòu chōng le xiàlái.
At daybreak, Mulan led a hundred soldiers charging down from behind the mountain.
- Captain Li 大家大声喊！让他们以为我们有十万人！
Dàjiā dàshēng hǎn! Ràng tāmen yǐwéi wǒmen yǒu shíwàn rén!
Everyone, shout as loud as you can! Make them think we've got a hundred thousand men!
- Narrator 山口那边，鼓声也响了。敌人以为来了很多人，吓得往回跑。
Shānkǒu nàbiān, gǔ shēng yě xiǎng le. Dírén yǐwéi lái le hěn duō rén, xià de wǎng huí pǎo.
At the pass, the drums began to pound. The enemy thought a huge army had come, and fled in fear.
- Captain Li 他们跑了！花将军，你看，他们的旗子都倒了！
Tāmen pǎo le! Huā jiāngjūn, nǐ kàn, tāmen de qízi dōu dǎo le!
They're running! General Hua, look, their banners are falling!
- Mulan 不要追了！让他们回家吧！
Bú yào zhuī le! Ràng tāmen huí jiā ba!
Don't chase them! Let them go home!
- Captain Li 花将军！你救了我们所有人！
Huā jiāngjūn! Nǐ jiù le wǒmen suǒyǒu rén!
General Hua! You saved every one of us!
- Mulan 不是我一个人，是大家。
Bú shì wǒ yí gè rén, shì dàjiā.
Not just me. All of us.
- Captain Li 他们还会再来吗？
Tāmen hái huì zài lái ma?
Will they come back?
- Mulan 不会了。我们不用再打仗了。
Bú huì le. Wǒmen bú yòng zài dǎzhàng le.
No. We won't have to fight anymore.
- Mulan 打了一百次仗，过了十二年……很多好兄弟，回不了家了。
Dǎ le yìbǎi cì zhàng, guò le shí'èr nián… hěn duō hǎo xiōngdi, huí bù liǎo jiā le.
A hundred battles, twelve long years… So many good brothers will never go home.
- Narrator 几天以后，京城来了人。
Jǐ tiān yǐhòu, jīngchéng lái le rén.
A few days later, a messenger came from the capital.
- Captain Li 花将军！皇帝要见你！
Huā jiāngjūn! Huángdì yào jiàn nǐ!
General Hua! The emperor wants to see you!
