The sea rises as high as the mountains, and the whole town is afraid. Up on the wall, seven-year-old Nezha makes a choice.

The next morning, the rain was still falling. The waves of the Eastern Sea stood as tall as mountains.
- Lady Yin 大水来了！哪吒，我的孩子，你在哪儿？
Dà shuǐ lái le! Nézhā, wǒ de háizi, nǐ zài nǎr?
The sea is coming! Nezha, my child, where are you?
- The Dragon King 李靖！哪吒呢？快把他给我！
Lǐ Jìng! Nézhā ne? Kuài bǎ tā gěi wǒ!
Li Jing! Where is Nezha? Hand him over, now!

Nezha! What are you doing up on the wall? Come down!
- Nezha 下面的人都很怕……妈妈也哭了。
Xiàmiàn de rén dōu hěn pà… māma yě kū le.
Everyone down there is so scared… and Mom is crying.
- Nezha 龙王，你听着！打夜叉的是我，打三太子的也是我。
Lóngwáng, nǐ tīngzhe! Dǎ yèchā de shì wǒ, dǎ sān tàizǐ de yě shì wǒ.
Dragon King, listen to me! I'm the one who hit the sea guard. I'm the one who hit the Third Prince.
- Nezha 一人做事一人当！
Yì rén zuò shì yì rén dāng!
I did it, and I alone will answer for it!
- Nezha 你不要找我的爸爸妈妈，也不要找陈塘关的人！
Nǐ bú yào zhǎo wǒ de bàba māma, yě bú yào zhǎo Chéntáng Guān de rén!
Leave my father and mother alone, and leave the people of Chentang Pass alone!
- The Dragon King 好！那你说，你怎么当？
Hǎo! Nà nǐ shuō, nǐ zěnme dāng?
Very well! Then tell me: how will you answer for it?
- Nezha 我的身体，是爸爸妈妈给的。今天，我还给他们。
Wǒ de shēntǐ, shì bàba māma gěi de. Jīntiān, wǒ huán gěi tāmen.
My body was a gift from my father and mother. Today, I give it back to them.
- Nezha 我走了以后，你就放过他们，好吗？
Wǒ zǒu le yǐhòu, nǐ jiù fàngguò tāmen, hǎo ma?
Once I'm gone, you will leave them in peace. Agreed?
- The Dragon King 好……我答应你。
Hǎo… wǒ dāying nǐ.
Very well… I promise.
- Lady Yin 哪吒！不要！
Nézhā! Bú yào!
Nezha! No!
- Nezha 妈妈，别哭。爸爸，对不起。
Māma, bié kū. Bàba, duìbuqǐ.
Don't cry, Mom. Dad, I'm sorry.
- Narrator 哪吒笑了。他的身体，慢慢变成了一片光。
Nézhā xiào le. Tā de shēntǐ, mànmàn biànchéng le yí piàn guāng.
Nezha smiled. Slowly, his body turned into a soft glow of light.
- Narrator 光飞上了天，飞到了很远很远的地方。
Guāng fēi shàng le tiān, fēi dào le hěn yuǎn hěn yuǎn de dìfang.
The light rose into the sky and drifted far, far away.
- The Dragon King 这个孩子……
Zhège háizi…
What a child…
- Narrator 大水回到了东海。雨停了。
Dà shuǐ huí dào le Dōng Hǎi. Yǔ tíng le.
The water flowed back into the Eastern Sea. The rain stopped.
- Taiyi Zhenren 哪吒，好孩子……到师父这里来吧。
Nézhā, hǎo háizi… dào shīfu zhèlǐ lái ba.
Nezha, my good boy… come here to your master.
