Pinocchio walks past two old tricksters, works every day for Papa and gives away everything he has saved. Then comes a morning like no other.

Nà tiān zǎoshang, zài hǎibiān. Húli hé Māo, yòu lǎo yòu lèi.
That same morning, on the shore, the Fox and the Cat looked old and worn out.
- Pinocchio 狐狸先生，你的腿？猫先生，你的眼睛？
Húli xiānsheng, nǐ de tuǐ? Māo xiānsheng, nǐ de yǎnjing?
Mr. Fox, your leg? Mr. Cat, your eyes?
- The Fox 我的腿，真的坏了。没有钱，尾巴也卖了！
Wǒ de tuǐ, zhēn de huài le. Méiyǒu qián, wěiba yě mài le!
My leg really is bad now. We had no money, so I even sold my tail!

Hǎo péngyou, gěi wǒmen yìdiǎn qián ba! Jiù yìdiǎndiǎn!
Dear friend, give us a little money! Just a tiny bit!
- Pinocchio 你们偷了我的金币。偷来的钱，不会变成金币树！
Nǐmen tōu le wǒ de jīnbì. Tōu lái de qián, bú huì biànchéng jīnbì shù!
You stole my gold coins. Stolen money never grows into a gold-coin tree!
- Narrator 匹诺曹拉着爸爸，走到了一个草房子前。
Pǐnuòcáo lā zhe bàba, zǒu dào le yí gè cǎo fángzi qián.
Holding on to Papa, Pinocchio walked on until they came to a straw hut.
- The Talking Cricket 进来吧，孩子。
Jìnlai ba, háizi.
Come in, child.
- Pinocchio 会说话的蟋蟀！对不起，我用木头打了你……
Huì shuōhuà de Xīshuài! Duìbuqǐ, wǒ yòng mùtou dǎ le nǐ…
The Talking Cricket! I'm sorry I hit you with that piece of wood...
- The Talking Cricket 我记得。你救了爸爸，我不生气了。
Wǒ jìde. Nǐ jiù le bàba, wǒ bù shēngqì le.
I remember. You saved your papa, so I'm not angry anymore.
- The Talking Cricket 这个房子，是一只蓝头发的小山羊给我的。
Zhège fángzi, shì yì zhī lán tóufa de xiǎo shānyáng gěi wǒ de.
A little goat with turquoise hair gave me this house.
- Geppetto 爸爸想喝一点牛奶……
Bàba xiǎng hē yìdiǎn niúnǎi…
Papa would love a little milk...
- Pinocchio 卖牛奶的人说，打一百次水，给一杯牛奶。好！
Mài niúnǎi de rén shuō, dǎ yìbǎi cì shuǐ, gěi yì bēi niúnǎi. Hǎo!
The dairy farmer says a hundred buckets of water gets one glass of milk. Fine!
- Pinocchio 九十八……九十九……一百！牛奶是我的了！
Jiǔshíbā… jiǔshíjiǔ… yìbǎi! Niúnǎi shì wǒ de le!
Ninety-eight... ninety-nine... a hundred! The milk is mine!
- Pinocchio 那头驴，怎么了？……我认识你吗？
Nà tóu lǘ, zěnme le? … Wǒ rènshi nǐ ma?
That donkey, what's wrong with him? ...Do I know you?
- Candlewick 匹诺曹……是我……小灯芯……
Pǐnuòcáo… shì wǒ… Xiǎo Dēngxīn…
Pinocchio... it's me... Candlewick...
- Narrator 小灯芯闭上了眼睛，没有再醒来。
Xiǎo Dēngxīn bì shàng le yǎnjing, méiyǒu zài xǐnglái.
Candlewick closed his eyes and did not wake again.
- Pinocchio 小灯芯……我的好朋友……
Xiǎo Dēngxīn… wǒ de hǎo péngyou…
Candlewick... my good friend...
- Narrator 五个月过去了。匹诺曹天天高兴地工作，晚上看书、写字。
Wǔ gè yuè guòqu le. Pǐnuòcáo tiāntiān gāoxìng de gōngzuò, wǎnshang kàn shū, xiězì.
Five months went by. Every day Pinocchio worked gladly, and at night he read and practiced his writing.
- Pinocchio 四十块钱了！我要给爸爸买大衣！
Sìshí kuài qián le! Wǒ yào gěi bàba mǎi dàyī!
Forty coins! I'm going to buy Papa a coat!
- the Snail 仙女……病了……没有……钱……
Xiānnǚ… bìng le… méiyǒu… qián…
It's the Fairy... she's sick... she has no money...
- Pinocchio 蜗牛？妈妈病了？给，四十块钱，都给她！快去！
Wōniú? Māma bìng le? Gěi, sìshí kuài qián, dōu gěi tā! Kuài qù!
Snail? Mama's sick? Here, forty coins, all of it for her! Go, quick!
- the Snail 好……我……马上……去……
Hǎo… wǒ… mǎshàng… qù…
Yes... I'll go... right... away...
- Narrator 那天晚上，匹诺曹做了一个梦。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, Pǐnuòcáo zuò le yí gè mèng.
That night, Pinocchio had a dream.
- The Fairy with Turquoise Hair 好孩子，你帮了爸爸，也帮了我。以前的事，都过去了。
Hǎo háizi, nǐ bāng le bàba, yě bāng le wǒ. Yǐqián de shì, dōu guòqu le.
My good boy, you helped Papa, and you helped me. Everything before is behind us now.
- Pinocchio 我的手……是热的！我……我是真正的孩子了！
Wǒ de shǒu… shì rè de! Wǒ… wǒ shì zhēnzhèng de háizi le!
My hands... they're warm! I... I'm a real boy!
- Pinocchio 新衣服！口袋里……数一数……四十个金币！
Xīn yīfu! Kǒudai lǐ… shǔ yi shǔ… sìshí gè jīnbì!
New clothes! In my pocket... let me count... forty gold coins!
- Geppetto 早上好，孩子！你看，爸爸好了！
Zǎoshang hǎo, háizi! Nǐ kàn, bàba hǎo le!
Good morning, son! Look, Papa's well again!
- Pinocchio 爸爸，你变年轻了！靠在椅子上的木偶……是以前的我！
Bàba, nǐ biàn niánqīng le! Kào zài yǐzi shàng de mù'ǒu… shì yǐqián de wǒ!
Papa, you're young again! That puppet leaning on the chair... that's the old me!
- Pinocchio 我是木偶的时候，多好笑啊！现在我是真正的孩子了，多高兴啊！
Wǒ shì mù'ǒu de shíhou, duō hǎoxiào a! Xiànzài wǒ shì zhēnzhèng de háizi le, duō gāoxìng a!
How funny I was as a puppet! And how happy I am to be a real boy now!
