Faria's last night comes, and he leaves Edmond one wild plan. What happens next depends on a canvas sack, a cliff, and how deep Edmond can dive.

Nǐ yǒu yì shuāngshǒu, yǒu yì kē cōngming de nǎozi, háiyǒu wǒjiào nǐ de nàxiē huà. Zhè jiù gòu le.
You have two hands, a clever mind, and everything I taught you. That is enough.
- Abbé Faria 听我说。这里的人死了，狱卒会把他放进一个大布袋，晚上扔进海里。这是这里的规矩，谁也不会检查袋子里的人。
Tīng wǒ shuō. Zhèlǐ de rén sǐ le, yùzú huì bǎ tā fàngjìn yí gè dà bùdài, wǎnshang rēngjìn hǎilǐ. Zhèshì zhèlǐ de guījǔ, shuí yě bú huì jiǎnchá dàizi lǐ de rén.
Listen to me. When someone dies here, the jailers put him in a big cloth sack and throw him into the sea at night.

- Abbé Faria 你还没有明白吗？袋子里的人，不一定是我。
Nǐ hái méiyǒu míngbai ma? Dàizi lǐ de rén, bù yídìng shì wǒ.
Don't you see yet? The man in the sack doesn't have to be me.
- Edmond Dantès 神父……您是说，我可以……
Shénfù… Nín shì shuō, wǒ kěyǐ…
Father... you're saying that I could...
- Abbé Faria 你用小刀，从里面把袋子割开。海水很冷，可是你会游泳，你是水手。
Nǐ yòng xiǎodāo, cóng lǐmiàn bǎ dàizi gēkāi. Hǎishuǐ hěn lěng, kěshì nǐ huì yóuyǒng, nǐ shì shuǐshǒu.
Use the little knife to cut the sack open from the inside. The sea is cold, but you can swim. You are a sailor.
- Edmond Dantès 可是我怎么知道什么时候动手？
Kěshì wǒ zěnme zhīdào shénme shíhou dòngshǒu?
But how will I know when to act?
- Abbé Faria 等到你听见海水的声音，再动手。那时候，不要怕，也不要出声。太早了，他们会发现你还活着。
Děngdào nǐ tīngjiàn hǎishuǐ de shēngyīn, zài dòngshǒu. Nà shíhou, bú yào pà, yě bú yào chū shēng. Tàizǎo le, tāmen huì fāxiàn nǐ hái huózhe.
Wait until you hear the sea. If you move too early, they will find out you're alive.
- Edmond Dantès 可是我怎么能丢下您一个人？
Kěshì wǒ zěnme néng diūxià nín yí gè rén?
But how can I leave you all alone?
- Abbé Faria 孩子，我已经不需要牢房了。去吧，你会成为一个了不起的人。替我看看太阳，看看大海。
Háizi, wǒ yǐjīng bù xūyào láofáng le. Qù ba, nǐ huì chéngwéi yí gè liǎobùqǐ de rén. Tì wǒ kànkan tàiyáng, kànkan dàhǎi.
Child, I don't need a prison cell anymore. Go. You will become a great man.
- Abbé Faria 爱德蒙……你是我一生中最好的学生。我很高兴。
Àidéméng… Nǐ shì wǒ yìshēng zhōng zuìhǎo de xuéshēng. Wǒ hěn gāoxìng.
Edmond... you were my best student.
- Edmond Dantès 神父？神父……请好好休息吧。
Shénfù? Shénfù… Qǐng hǎohǎo xiūxi ba.
Father? Father... please rest well now.
- Narrator 法里亚安静地走了。爱德蒙哭了很久。然后，他擦干眼泪，做出了决定。
Fǎlǐyà ānjìng dìzǒule. Àidéméng kū le hěn jiǔ. Ránhòu, tā cāgàn yǎnlèi, zuòchū le juédìng.
Faria passed away quietly. Edmond wept for a long time. Then he wiped his tears and made his decision.
- Edmond Dantès 神父，我不会让您白教我这么多年。我要活着出去，去拿您说的宝藏。
Shénfù, wǒ bú huì ràng nín báijiào wǒ zhème duōnián. Wǒyào huózhe chūqù, qù ná nín shuō de bǎozàng.
Father, I won't let all your teaching go to waste. I will get out alive.
- Edmond Dantès 对不起，神父，我要借用您的袋子了。
Duìbùqǐ, shénfù, wǒyào jièyòng nín de dàizi le.
Forgive me, Father, I must borrow your sack.
- Edmond Dantès 刀在手里……心啊，你别跳得这么快！
Dāo zài shǒulǐ… Xīn a, nǐbié tiào dé zhème kuài!
The knife is in my hand... heart, don't pound so hard!
- Edmond Dantès 梅赛苔丝，父亲……我还活着，你们一定要等着我。
Méisàitāisī, fùqīn… Wǒ hái huózhe, nǐmen yídìng yào děng zhe wǒ.
Mercedes, Father... I'm still alive. Please wait for me.
- Edmond Dantès 这里又冷又黑，可是比牢房好一百倍。我躺在袋子里，也躺在希望里。
Zhèlǐ yòu lěng yòu hēi, kěshì bǐ láofáng hǎo yì bǎibèi. Wǒ tǎng zài dàizi lǐ, yě tǎng zài xīwàng lǐ.
It's cold and dark in here, but a hundred times better than my cell. I lie in the sack, and I lie in hope.
- Jailer 又死了一个。快点儿抬起来！怎么这么重？
Yòu sǐ le yí gè. Kuàidiǎn'ér táiqǐ lái! Zěnme zhème zhòng?
Another one dead. Hurry up, lift! Why is he so heavy?
- Jailer 这个老头平时那么瘦，今天像块石头。
Zhège lǎotóu píngshí nàme shòu, jīntiān xiàng kuài shítou.
