The Chamber was full. Today the lords would ask General Morcerf what he did in Greece when he was young.
- Count of Morcerf 各位先生，我为国王打过仗，身上有十几处伤！我的名字，就是我的荣誉！
Gèwèi xiānsheng, wǒ wèi guówáng dǎ guò zhàng, shēnshàng yǒu shíjǐchù shāng! Wǒ de míngzi, jiùshì wǒ de róngyù!
Gentlemen, I have fought for the king, and I carry a dozen scars! My name is my honor!

Jiāngjūn, yǒurén shuō nín niánqīng shí zuò guò bù guāngcǎi de shì. Wǒ jīntiān dàilái le yí wèi zhèngrén, qǐng ràng tā shuōhuà.

Monsieur de Morcerf, these are the rules of the Chamber. Please let the young lady speak.

Wǒ jiào Hǎidài. Wǒ de fùqīn, shì Xīlà Yà-nínà de zǒngdū, Ālǐ.
My name is Haydée. My father was Ali, the governor of Janina in Greece.
- Count of Morcerf 我从来没有见过这位小姐！
Wǒ cónglái méiyǒu jiàn guò zhè wèi xiǎojie!
I have never seen this young lady in my life!
- Haydée 我父亲有一位法国军官朋友，叫费尔南。父亲那样相信他，几乎把他当成自己的儿子。
Wǒ fùqīn yǒu yí wèi Fǎguó jūnguān péngyou, jiào Fèi'ěrnán. Fùqīn nàyàng xiāngxìn tā, jīhū bǎ tā dàngchéng zìjǐ de érzi.
My father had a French officer for a friend, named Fernand. Father trusted him so much that he treated him almost like a son.
- Haydée 可是有一天，他打开了城门，让敌人进来。我父亲……再也没有回来。
Kěshì yǒu yì tiān, tā dǎkāi le chéngmén, ràng dírén jìnlái. Wǒ fùqīn… Zàiyě méiyǒu huílái.
But one day he opened the city gate and let the enemy in. My father... never came back.
- Haydée 我和母亲被卖到很远的地方。母亲死在路上，那时我只有四岁。
Wǒ hé mǔqīn bèi mài dào hěn yuǎn de dìfang. Mǔqīn sǐ zài lùshàng, nàshí wǒ zhǐyǒu sìsuì.
My mother and I were sold far away. My mother died on the road. I was only four.
- The Count of Monte Cristo 各位先生，那个人卖了自己的朋友，换来了金子，还换了一个新的名字。
Gèwèi xiānsheng, nàge rén mài le zìjǐ de péngyou, huànlái le jīnzi, hái huàn le yí gè xīn de míngzi.
Gentlemen, that man sold his friend, took gold for it, and took a new name as well.
- Count of Morcerf 谎话！都是谎话！这个女人是伯爵找来骗你们的，我不认识她！
Huǎnghuà! Dōu shì huǎnghuà! Zhège nǚrén shì bójué zhǎo lái piàn nǐmen de, wǒ bú rènshi tā!
Lies! All lies! The Count found this woman to trick you. I don't know her!
- A Peer 安静！请大家安静！让海黛小姐把话说完！
Ānjìng! Qǐng dàjiā ānjìng! Ràng Hǎidài xiǎojie bǎ huà shuōwán!
Silence! Everyone please be quiet! Let Miss Haydée finish!
- Haydée 我不会认错。就算是四岁的孩子，也忘不了那个声音。你就是费尔南！
Wǒ bú huì rèncuò. Jiùsuàn shì sìsuì de háizi, yě wàngbùliǎo nàge shēngyīn. Nǐ jiùshì Fèi'ěrnán!
I could not be wrong. Even a four-year-old cannot forget that voice. You are Fernand!
- Count of Morcerf 这只是小孩子的梦话，各位不要相信！我是国王的将军，我为国家流过血！
Zhè zhǐshì xiǎo háizi de mènghuà, gèwèi bú yào xiāngxìn! Wǒ shì guówáng de jiāngjūn, wǒ wèi guójiā liúguò xuè!
This is only a child's dream talk. Gentlemen, don't believe it! I am the king's general, and I have shed blood for my country!
- The Count of Monte Cristo 这里有总督的印章，还有那一天写下的信，上面清清楚楚写着您的名字。
Zhèlǐ yǒu zǒngdū de yìnzhāng, háiyǒu nà yì tiān xiěxià de xìn, shàngmiàn qīngqīngchǔchǔ xiě zhe nín de míngzi.
Here is the governor's seal, and a letter from that day. Your name is written on it, clear as day.

Mǎ'ěrsāifū xiānsheng, qǐng nín huídá. Zhè shì bu shì nín de míngzi?
Monsieur de Morcerf, answer us. Is this your name?
- Count of Morcerf 我……我没有什么可说的。
Wǒ… Wǒ méiyǒu shénme kě shuō de.
I... I have nothing to say.
- Haydée 先生，我说完了。可是我的心，一点也不轻松。
Xiānsheng, wǒ shuōwán le. Kěshì wǒ de xīn, yìdiǎn yě bù qīngsōng.
Sir, I have finished. But my heart does not feel light at all.
- The Count of Monte Cristo 你做得很好，海黛。真话有时候很重，但是必须有人说出来。走吧，我们回家。
Nǐ zuò dé hěn hǎo, Hǎidài. Zhēnhuà yǒu shíhou hěn zhòng, dànshì bìxū yǒurén shuō chūlái. Zǒu ba, wǒmen huíjiā.
You did well, Haydée. The truth is sometimes heavy, but someone must say it. Come, let us go home.
- Narrator 那天晚上，风很大。阿尔贝跑进了伯爵的家，像一阵风。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, fēng hěndà. Ā'ěrbèi pǎo jìn le bójué de jiā, xiàng yí zhènfēng.
That night the wind was strong. Albert ran into the Count's house like a storm.
- Albert de Morcerf 伯爵！您对我父亲做了什么？
Bójué! Nín duì wǒ fùqīn zuò le shénme?
Count! What have you done to my father?
- The Count of Monte Cristo 我只是请一位小姐说了真话，子爵。您先坐下，喝点水，好吗？
Wǒ zhǐshì qǐng yí wèi xiǎojie shuō le zhēnhuà, zǐjué. Nín xiān zuòxià, hē diǎn shuǐ, hǎo ma?
I only asked a young lady to tell the truth, Viscount. Sit down and have some water, will you?
- Albert de Morcerf 我不坐！我父亲一辈子为国王打仗，您为什么这样恨他？
Wǒ bú zuò! Wǒ fùqīn yíbèizi wèi guówáng dǎzhàng, nín wèishénme zhèyàng hèn tā?
I won't sit! My father fought for the king all his life. Why do you hate him so?
- The Count of Monte Cristo 您可以回家问您的父亲。他会告诉您，我为什么站在这里。
Nín kěyǐ huíjiā wèn nín de fùqīn. Tā huì gàosu nín, wǒ wèishénme zhàn zài zhèlǐ.
You can go home and ask your father. He will tell you why I am standing here.

Juédòu shì yí jiàn hěn shǎ de shì, zǐjué. Kěshì wǒ bú huì jùjué. Qǐng xuǎn nín de wǔqì.
A duel is a foolish thing, Viscount. But I will not refuse. Choose your weapon.
- Albert de Morcerf 手枪。明天早上六点，在树林里。您一向很准时，不是吗？
Shǒuqiāng. Míngtiān zǎoshang liùdiǎn, zài shùlín lǐ. Nín yí xiàng hěn zhǔnshí, bú shì ma?
Pistols. Tomorrow at six in the morning, in the woods. You're always punctual, aren't you?
- The Count of Monte Cristo 是的，子爵，我一向准时。我只是不知道，今天晚上，您的母亲能不能睡着。
Shì de, zǐjué, wǒ yí xiàng zhǔnshí. Wǒ zhǐshì bù zhīdào, jīntiān wǎnshang, nín de mǔqīn néng bu néng shuìzháo.
Yes, Viscount, I am always punctual. I only wonder whether your mother will be able to sleep tonight.
