Holmes fires question after question about the footprints, the gate and a glowing thing on the moor, then learns that the last Baskerville reaches London today.

Huge, and glowing all over, like a devil. Mr. Holmes, do you still think this is a fairy tale?
- Sherlock Holmes 你不是相信科学吗？怎么也觉得那是魔鬼？
Nǐ bú shì xiāngxìn kēxué ma? Zěnme yě juéde nà shì móguǐ?
Don't you believe in science? How can you think it was a devil too?
- Dr. Mortimer 我……我也不知道该相信什么了。

I... I no longer know what to believe.
- Sherlock Holmes 我一直只查人做的坏事。查魔鬼？对我来说太难了。

I've only ever looked into the wrongs that people do. Investigate the devil? That's beyond me.

Good heavens, Holmes! I thought the place was on fire!
- Sherlock Holmes 我一天都没出门，可是我的心去了德文郡。

I haven't been out all day, but my mind has been in Devon.

First, he stood by the little gate a long time; his ash dropped twice. Second, after he left the gate, his prints show only the front half.

So he was walking on tiptoe?
- Sherlock Holmes 不，华生。他不是在走，他是在跑！他想活下去，一直跑，跑到心脏停了。
