Circe and the Sirens

A traveler hands Odysseus a white flower, and a goddess pours a strange drink. Then he must sail past a song that no sailor has ever escaped.

Wait a moment, traveler! Where are you going?
- Odysseus 你是谁？我的朋友在里面，我要去找他们。
Nǐ shì shuí? Wǒ de péngyou zài lǐmiàn, wǒyào qù zhǎo tāmen.
Who are you? My friends are inside, and I'm going to find them.
- Hermes 里面住着喀耳刻。她给人一杯酒，人喝了，就变成猪。
Lǐmiàn zhù zhe Kā'ěrkè. Tā gěi rén yì bēijiǔ, rén hē le, jiù biànchéng zhū.
Circe lives there. She gives people a cup, and once they drink, they turn into pigs.
- Hermes 拿着这朵白花。喝她的杯子也没关系。然后，拿出你的剑！
Ná zhe zhèduǒ báihuā. Hē tā de bēizi yě méiguānxi. Ránhòu, náchū nǐ de jiàn!
Take this white flower. Even her cup can't hurt you. Then draw your sword!

Báihuā… hǎo. Xièxie nǐ, péngyou!
A white flower... All right. Thank you, friend!
- Circe 欢迎，欢迎！来，喝一杯吧。
Huānyíng, huānyíng! Lái, hēyìbēi ba.
Welcome, welcome! Come, have a drink.
- Odysseus 白花在我手里。我喝了。
Báihuā zài wǒ shǒulǐ. Wǒ hē le.
The flower is in my hand. I'll drink.
- Circe 好了，你可以去猪圈了……你怎么还是人？
Hǎo le, nǐ kěyǐ qù zhūjuàn le… nǐ zěnme háishi rén?
There, now you can go to the pigpen... Why are you still a man?
- Odysseus 喀耳刻！我的朋友呢？还给我！
Kā'ěrkè! Wǒ de péngyou ne? Huángěi wǒ!
Circe! Where are my friends? Give them back!
- Circe 别生气！你是奥德修斯，对不对？好，好，别生气！
Biéshēngqì! Nǐ shì Àodéxiūsī, duì bú duì? Hǎo, hǎo, biéshēngqì!
Don't be angry! You're Odysseus, aren't you? All right, all right!
- Circe 我让他们变回来。你们可以住在这里。
Wǒ ràng tāmen biànhuílái. Nǐmen kěyǐ zhù zài zhèlǐ.
I'll change them back. You may all stay here.
- The Crew 我们又是人了！奥德修斯，是你！
Wǒmen yòu shì rén le! Àodéxiūsī, shì nǐ!
We're men again! Odysseus, it's you!
- Narrator 一年过去了。水手们吃得好，睡得好。
Yìnián guòqù le. Shuǐshǒumen chī dé hǎo, shuìdé hǎo.
A year went by. The sailors ate well and slept well.
- Odysseus 喀耳刻，我们要回家了。请告诉我们，路上有什么？
Kā'ěrkè, wǒmen yào huíjiā le. Qǐng gàosu wǒmen, lùshàng yǒu shénme?
Circe, we are going home now. Please tell us what is on the way.
- Circe 海上有两个女人。她们的歌很好听。
Hǎishàng yǒu liǎnggè nǚrén. Tāmen de gē hěn hǎotīng.
Out at sea are two sea-women. Their song is very beautiful.

Shuǐshǒu yìtīng, jiù wàng le jiā. Nǐmen yào yòng làdǔ shàng ěrduo.
Sailors who hear it forget their homes. Plug your ears with wax.
- Odysseus 那我呢？我想听听她们的歌！
Nà wǒ ne? Wǒ xiǎng tīngtīng tāmen de gē!
And me? I want to hear their song!
- Circe 让水手把你绑在柱子上，绑紧一点。你叫他们放开，也不要放开！
Ràng shuǐshǒu bǎ nǐ bǎng zài zhùzi shàng, bǎngjǐn yìdiǎn. Nǐ jiào tāmen fàngkāi, yě búyào fàngkāi!
Then have the sailors tie you to the mast, good and tight. Even if you beg them to let go, they must not!
- Circe 还有，你们不要吃太阳神的牛！
Háiyǒu, nǐmen búyào chī tàiyángshén de niú!
And one more thing: never eat the cattle of the sun god!
- The Sirens 奥德修斯，过来，过来！我们知道你的事！
Àodéxiūsī, guòlái, guòlái! Wǒmen zhīdào nǐ de shì!
Odysseus, come here, come here! We know all about you!

- The Sailor 用力划！不要看她们！
Yònglì huà! Búyào kàn tāmen!
Row hard! Don't look at them!
- Odysseus 歌声远了……放开我吧。
Gēshēng yuǎn le… fàngkāi wǒ ba.
The song is fading... you can untie me now.
- The Sailor 我们拿下蜡了。你没事吧，奥德修斯？
Wǒmen náxià là le. Nǐ méishì ba, Àodéxiūsī?
We took out the wax. Are you all right, Odysseus?
- The Sailor 你看！前面有一个岛，岛上有好多牛！我好饿！
Nǐ kàn! Qiánmiàn yǒu yígè dǎo, dǎoshàng yǒu hǎoduō niú! Wǒ hǎo è!
Look! There's an island ahead with lots of cattle! I'm so hungry!
