Under the Big Tree
大树下
Night in the forest: a fire the Scarecrow won't go near, a supper the Lion won't talk about, and in the morning a problem nobody knows how to solve.

That afternoon on the Yellow Brick Road, the Tin Woodman's jaw would not move.
- Scarecrow 快拿油来！油在多萝西的篮子里！
Kuài ná yóu lái! Yóu zài Duōluóxī de lánzi lǐ!
Quick, get the oil! It's in Dorothy's basket!
- Scarecrow 我来！这儿，还有这儿……铁皮人，你说说话！
Wǒ lái! Zhèr, hái yǒu zhèr… Tiěpírén, nǐ shuōshuo huà!
Let me do it! Here... and here... Tin Woodman, say something!

Wǒ… wǒ néng shuōhuà le! Xièxie nǐmen!
I... I can talk again! Thank you!
- Tin Woodman 是我的眼泪……我生锈了。
Shì wǒ de yǎnlèi… wǒ shēngxiù le.
It was my own tears... they rusted me.
- Tin Woodman 以后走路，我要看着地上，不能再碰到小虫子了。
Yǐhòu zǒulù, wǒ yào kàn zhe dìshang, bù néng zài pèng dào xiǎo chóngzi le.
From now on I'll watch the ground when I walk. I must never step on a little bug again.
- Tin Woodman 你们有心，不会做错事。我没有心，所以我要很小心。
Nǐmen yǒu xīn, bú huì zuò cuò shì. Wǒ méiyǒu xīn, suǒyǐ wǒ yào hěn xiǎoxīn.
You have hearts to keep you from doing wrong. I have no heart, so I must be very, very careful.
- Narrator 到了晚上，他们在大树下休息。
Dào le wǎnshang, tāmen zài dàshù xià xiūxi.
Night fell, and they stopped to rest under a big tree.
- Tin Woodman 我用斧头去砍木头！
Wǒ yòng fǔtóu qù kǎn mùtou!
I'll go and chop some wood with my axe!
- Dorothy 我来生火！托托，来！
Wǒ lái shēng huǒ! Tuōtuō, lái!
And I'll make a fire! Toto, come!
- Scarecrow 火？我不过去！稻草最怕火了！
Huǒ? Wǒ bú guòqu! Dàocǎo zuì pà huǒ le!
Fire? I'm not going near it! Straw is more afraid of fire than anything!
- Scarecrow 我坐在那边！你们说话，大声一点儿！
Wǒ zuò zài nàbiān! Nǐmen shuōhuà, dàshēng yìdiǎnr!
I'll sit way over there! When you talk, talk loud!
- Dorothy 面包没有了……我好饿。
Miànbāo méiyǒu le… wǒ hǎo è.
The bread's all gone... I'm so hungry.
- Cowardly Lion 我去森林里，给你抓吃的！
Wǒ qù sēnlín lǐ, gěi nǐ zhuā chī de!
I'll go into the forest and catch you something to eat!
- Tin Woodman 不，不！你杀了它，我会哭的！我哭了，又会生锈！
Bù, bù! Nǐ shā le tā, wǒ huì kū de! Wǒ kū le, yòu huì shēngxiù!
Don't! If you kill it, I'll cry! And if I cry, I'll rust again!
- Cowardly Lion 好吧，好吧……我自己去找吃的。
Hǎo ba, hǎo ba… wǒ zìjǐ qù zhǎo chī de.
All right, all right... I'll go and find my own supper.
- Scarecrow 多萝西，树上有坚果！我给你拿！
Duōluóxī, shù shang yǒu jiānguǒ! Wǒ gěi nǐ ná!
Dorothy, there are nuts up in this tree! I'll get you some!
- Scarecrow 我的手是稻草做的……坚果掉了一半！
Wǒ de shǒu shì dàocǎo zuò de… jiānguǒ diào le yíbàn!
My hands are made of straw... I dropped half the nuts!
- Dorothy 没关系！一半也很好。谢谢你，稻草人！
Méi guānxi! Yíbàn yě hěn hǎo. Xièxie nǐ, Dàocǎorén!
Never mind! Half is still plenty. Thank you, Scarecrow!
- Dorothy 狮子，你回来了！你吃了什么？
Shīzi, nǐ huílai le! Nǐ chī le shénme?
Lion, you're back! What did you eat?
- Cowardly Lion 这个……你们别问了。
Zhège… nǐmen bié wèn le.
Well... better not ask.
- Toto 汪汪！汪汪！
Wāngwāng! Wāngwāng!
Woof woof! Woof woof!
- Cowardly Lion 托托，你也别问！
Tuōtuō, nǐ yě bié wèn!
Toto, don't you ask either!
- Narrator 第二天早上，路上有一条大沟。
Dì èr tiān zǎoshang, lù shang yǒu yì tiáo dà gōu.
The next morning, a great ditch cut right across the road.
- Dorothy 好大的沟！下边都是石头！
Hǎo dà de gōu! Xiàbian dōu shì shítou!
What a huge ditch! There are rocks all over the bottom!
- Cowardly Lion 好高……我不看了！
Hǎo gāo… wǒ bú kàn le!
It's so far down... I can't look!
- Scarecrow 我们不会飞，也不能爬到下边去。我们怎么过去？
Wǒmen bú huì fēi, yě bù néng pá dào xiàbian qù. Wǒmen zěnme guòqu?
We can't fly, and we can't climb down. So how do we get across?
