Every night at nine the Beast asks his question, and every night Beauty says no. Then she goes home for one week, and her jealous sisters hatch a plan.

The Beast let out a long, deep sigh, so loud that the whole palace heard it.
- The Beast 那……再见，美儿。
Nà… zàijiàn, Měi'ér.
Then… goodbye, Beauty.
- Narrator 三个月过去了。每天晚上九点，野兽都来和美儿说话。

Five to nine already… Why isn't the Beast here yet?
- The Beast 美儿，晚上好！笨野兽又来了。我今天还要问你：你愿意嫁给我吗？
Měi'ér, wǎnshang hǎo! Bèn Yěshòu yòu lái le. Wǒ jīntiān hái yào wèn nǐ: nǐ yuànyì jià gěi wǒ ma?
Good evening, Beauty! Here comes the stupid Beast again. And tonight I must ask you once more: will you marry me?
- Beauty 野兽，你不笨，你是我最好的朋友。可是，我不能嫁给你。
Yěshòu, nǐ bú bèn, nǐ shì wǒ zuì hǎo de péngyou. Kěshì, wǒ bù néng jià gěi nǐ.
Beast, you're not stupid. You're my very best friend. But I can't marry you.
- The Beast 朋友……好吧。那你答应我，永远不离开我。
Péngyou… hǎo ba. Nà nǐ dāying wǒ, yǒngyuǎn bù líkāi wǒ.
A friend… All right. Then promise me you'll never leave me.
- Beauty 永远？可是镜子里的爸爸，想我想得病了……
Yǒngyuǎn? Kěshì jìngzi lǐ de bàba, xiǎng wǒ xiǎng de bìng le…
Never? But the mirror showed me Father, sick from missing me…

Wǒ bù xiǎng ràng nǐ nánguò. Nǐ huíqù ba… Kěshì nǐ bù huílái, wǒ yě huì nánguò sǐ de.
I don't want you to be sad. Go home… But if you don't come back, I'll die of sadness too.
- Beauty 不！我只去一个星期。一个星期以后，我一定回来！
Bù! Wǒ zhǐ qù yí gè xīngqī. Yí gè xīngqī yǐhòu, wǒ yídìng huílái!
No! I'll only go for one week. After one week, I'll come back, I promise!
- The Beast 拿着这个戒指。想回来的时候，睡觉以前把它放在桌子上。
Názhe zhège jièzhi. Xiǎng huílái de shíhou, shuìjiào yǐqián bǎ tā fàng zài zhuōzi shang.
Take this ring. When you want to come back, put it on the table before you go to sleep.

Bié wàng le nǐ de huà, Měi'ér.

- Narrator 第二天早上，美儿一醒来，已经在自己家里了。

Wǒ yǒu yí gè bànfǎ. Wǒmen ràng tā duō zhù jǐ tiān, Yěshòu jiù huì shēngqì.
I have an idea. We'll make her stay a few extra days, and the Beast will get angry.
- Second Sister 野兽一生气，就会吃了她！好办法！
Yěshòu yì shēngqì, jiù huì chī le tā! Hǎo bànfǎ!
