The emperor welcomes his old friend home. At Vulture Peak the Buddha names each pilgrim, and Wukong feels something missing from his head.

- Narrator 长安城的大门口，人山人海。皇帝亲自出来，已经等了很久。
Cháng'ān chéng de dàmén kǒu, rénshān rénhǎi. Huángdì qīnzì chūlái, yǐjīng děng le hěn jiǔ.
At the gate of Chang'an the crowd was a sea of people. The emperor himself had come out and had waited a long time.
- The Emperor 我的好兄弟！你回来了！十四年了！
Wǒ de hǎo xiōngdì! Nǐ huílái le! Shísì nián le!
My dear brother! You're back! Fourteen years!
- Tang Seng 陛下！我回来了。我把经书都带回来了。
Bìxià! Wǒ huílái le. Wǒ bǎ jīngshū dōu dài huílái le.
Your Majesty! I'm back. I've brought all the scriptures home.

Nǐ shòu le, yě hēi le. Kěshì nǐ de yǎnjing, bǐ yǐqián gèng liàng.
You're thinner and darker. But your eyes are brighter than before.
- Tang Seng 陛下，这一路上，我有三位好徒弟。没有他们，我走不到西天。
Bìxià, zhè yílù shàng, wǒ yǒu sān wèi hǎo túdì. Méiyǒu tāmen, wǒ zǒu bú dào Xītiān.
Your Majesty, on this road I had three fine disciples. Without them I would never have reached the West.
- Zhu Bajie 陛下，我是二徒弟。这一路上，我吃得最少……哎哟，师父，别踩我的脚！
Bìxià, wǒ shì èr túdì. Zhè yílù shàng, wǒ chī de zuì shǎo… āiyō, shīfu, bié cǎi wǒ de jiǎo!
Your Majesty, I'm the second disciple. On this road I ate the least... ow, Master, don't step on my foot!
- The Emperor 哈哈！好，好。来人！把经书请到大塔里去，好好放起来。
Hāhā! Hǎo, hǎo. Lái rén! Bǎ jīngshū qǐng dào dà tǎ lǐ qù, hǎohǎo fàng qǐlái.
Ha ha! Good, good. Guards! Carry the scriptures to the great pagoda and keep them safe.
- Sun Wukong 师父，你看，全城的人都在笑。老孙第一次觉得，当和尚也不错。
Shīfu, nǐ kàn, quán chéng de rén dōu zài xiào. Lǎo Sūn dì-yī cì juéde, dāng héshàng yě búcuò.
Look, Master, the whole city is smiling. For the first time, Old Sun thinks being a monk isn't bad.
- Tang Seng 悟空，不是“也不错”。是“很好”。
Wùkōng, bú shì “yě búcuò”. Shì “hěn hǎo”.
Wukong, it isn't "not bad." It's "very good."
- Narrator 忽然，天上落下一片金光。他们的脚，慢慢离开了地面。
Hūrán, tiānshàng luò xià yí piàn jīnguāng. Tāmen de jiǎo, mànmàn líkāi le dìmiàn.
Suddenly a golden light fell from the sky. Their feet slowly rose from the ground.
- The Buddha 欢迎回来，我的四位朋友。你们做得很好。
Huānyíng huílái, wǒ de sì wèi péngyou. Nǐmen zuò de hěn hǎo.
Welcome back, my four friends. You have done very well.
- Tang Seng 佛祖，有一只老乌龟，等了我十四年。他想问，他什么时候能变成人。
Fózǔ, yǒu yì zhī lǎo wūguī, děng le wǒ shísì nián. Tā xiǎng wèn, tā shénme shíhou néng biànchéng rén.
Buddha, an old turtle waited fourteen years for me. He wanted to ask when he could become a person.
- The Buddha 你替他问了，这很好。请你告诉他：他等的十四年，我都看见了。
Nǐ tì tā wèn le, zhè hěn hǎo. Qǐng nǐ gàosu tā: tā děng de shísì nián, wǒ dōu kànjiàn le.
You asked for him, and that is good. Tell him this: I saw all fourteen years that he waited.
- Tang Seng 谢谢佛祖。我心里轻多了。
Xièxie Fózǔ. Wǒ xīnlǐ qīng duō le.
Thank you, Buddha. My heart feels so much lighter.
- The Buddha 现在，我要给你们每个人一个新名字。唐僧，你走得最远。从今天起，你也是一位佛了。
Xiànzài, wǒ yào gěi nǐmen měi gè rén yí gè xīn míngzi. Táng Sēng, nǐ zǒu de zuì yuǎn. Cóng jīntiān qǐ, nǐ yě shì yí wèi Fó le.
Now I will give each of you a new name. Tang Seng, you walked the farthest. From today, you are a Buddha too.
- Tang Seng 我？我只是一个走路的和尚。
Wǒ? Wǒ zhǐshì yí gè zǒulù de héshàng.
Me? I'm only a monk who walks.
- The Buddha 走路的和尚，才最懂路。悟空，你是斗战胜佛。悟净，你是金身罗汉。
Zǒulù de héshàng, cái zuì dǒng lù. Wùkōng, nǐ shì Dòuzhànshèng Fó. Wùjìng, nǐ shì Jīnshēn Luóhàn.
Only a walking monk really knows the road. Wukong, you are the Buddha of Victory in Battle. Wujing, you are a golden-bodied arhat.
- Zhu Bajie 那我呢，佛祖？我是不是也是……佛？
Nà wǒ ne, Fózǔ? Wǒ shì bú shì yě shì… Fó?
And me, Buddha? Am I a... Buddha too?
- The Buddha 八戒，你是净坛使者。
Bājiè, nǐ shì Jìngtán Shǐzhě.
Bajie, you are the Altar Cleanser.
- Zhu Bajie 净坛使者？听起来很高级！要做什么？
Jìngtán Shǐzhě? Tīng qǐlái hěn gāojí! Yào zuò shénme?
Altar Cleanser? That sounds important! What do I do?
- The Buddha 每次有人拜佛，桌上的好吃的，都是你的。
Měi cì yǒu rén bàifó, zhuō shàng de hǎochī de, dōu shì nǐ de.
Whenever people bring offerings, all the good food on the altar is yours.
- Zhu Bajie 什么！全都是我的？佛祖，您真是太好了！
Shénme! Quán dōu shì wǒ de? Fózǔ, nín zhēnshi tài hǎo le!
What! All of it is mine? Buddha, you are the best!
- Narrator 回到人间，四个人站在山坡上。风很轻，太阳很暖。
Huí dào rénjiān, sì gè rén zhàn zài shānpō shàng. Fēng hěn qīng, tàiyáng hěn nuǎn.
Back on earth, the four stood on a hillside. The wind was gentle and the sun was warm.
- Sun Wukong 老孙是佛了！哈哈！可是，师父，我怎么觉得头上凉凉的？
Lǎo Sūn shì Fó le! Hāhā! Kěshì, shīfu, wǒ zěnme juéde tóu shàng liángliáng de?
Old Sun is a Buddha! Ha ha! But Master, why does my head feel so cool?
- Sun Wukong 咦？我的金箍……不见了！
Yí? Wǒ de jīn gū… bú jiàn le!
Huh? My golden band... it's gone!
- Tang Seng 是啊。你已经不需要金箍了。
Shì a. Nǐ yǐjīng bù xūyào jīn gū le.
Yes. You don't need it anymore.
- Sun Wukong 师父，你念念紧箍咒吧。试试看。
Shīfu, nǐ niànnian jǐn gū zhòu ba. Shìshi kàn.
Master, say that spell. Just try it.
- Tang Seng 紧箍咒，我不念了。我永远不会再念了。
Jǐn gū zhòu, wǒ bú niàn le. Wǒ yǒngyuǎn bú huì zài niàn le.
I won't say it. I will never say it again.
- Sha Wujing 大师兄，你不戴它，也一样听师父的话。
Dà shīxiōng, nǐ bú dài tā, yě yíyàng tīng shīfu de huà.
Big Brother, even without it, you still listen to the Master.
- Sun Wukong 那当然！老孙不是听金箍的话，是听师父的话。
Nà dāngrán! Lǎo Sūn bú shì tīng jīn gū de huà, shì tīng shīfu de huà.
Of course! Old Sun never obeyed the band. He obeyed the Master.
- Sun Wukong 师父，路走完了，故事还没有完。下一站，我们去哪儿？
Shīfu, lù zǒu wán le, gùshi hái méiyǒu wán. Xià yí zhàn, wǒmen qù nǎr?
