The White Dragon Horse
白龙马
A dragon has swallowed Tang Seng's horse and won't come out of the river. Wukong needs help from above, and somebody owes the pilgrims a horse.

- Narrator 白龙吃了马，又回到了水里。唐僧坐在河边，哭了起来。
Bái lóng chī le mǎ, yòu huí dào le shuǐ lǐ. Táng Sēng zuò zài hé biān, kū le qǐlái.
The white dragon swallowed the horse and went back under the water. Tang Seng sat down by the river and began to cry.
- Tang Seng 我的马没有了……这么远的路，我怎么走到西天啊？
Wǒ de mǎ méiyǒu le… zhème yuǎn de lù, wǒ zěnme zǒu dào Xītiān a?
My horse is gone... How will I ever walk all that way to the West?
- Sun Wukong 师父，别哭了！你是大人，怎么哭得像个小孩子？你坐着，老孙去把马要回来！
Shīfu, bié kū le! Nǐ shì dàrén, zěnme kū de xiàng gè xiǎo háizi? Nǐ zuòzhe, Lǎo Sūn qù bǎ mǎ yào huílái!
Master, stop crying! You're a grown-up, and you're crying like a little kid! Sit tight. Old Sun will go and get that horse back!

Hey! You white dragon down there! Come out! Give my master's horse back!
- Little White Dragon 谁在这里大叫？马是我吃的，你想怎么样？
Shéi zài zhèlǐ dà jiào? Mǎ shì wǒ chī de, nǐ xiǎng zěnmeyàng?
Who's making all that noise? Yes, I ate the horse. What are you going to do about it?
- Sun Wukong 老孙想打你！看我的金箍棒！
Lǎo Sūn xiǎng dǎ nǐ! Kàn wǒ de jīn gū bàng!
Old Sun is going to thrash you, that's what! Here comes my Golden-Hoop Staff!
- Narrator 他们在河上打了很久。白龙打不过悟空，又回到了水下。
Tāmen zài hé shang dǎ le hěn jiǔ. Bái lóng dǎ bu guò Wùkōng, yòu huí dào le shuǐ xià.
They fought above the river for a long time. The white dragon couldn't beat Wukong, so he slipped back under the water.
- Sun Wukong 小虫子，出来啊！你怎么不敢出来了？
Xiǎo chóngzi, chūlái a! Nǐ zěnme bù gǎn chūlái le?
Come out, little worm! What's the matter? Too scared?
- Little White Dragon 我不出来！你太厉害了，我打不过你！
Wǒ bù chūlái! Nǐ tài lìhai le, wǒ dǎ bu guò nǐ!
I'm not coming out! You're too strong. I can't beat you!
- Sun Wukong 老孙在水里不好打……有了！观音菩萨，你快来啊！
Lǎo Sūn zài shuǐ lǐ bù hǎo dǎ… yǒu le! Guānyīn Púsà, nǐ kuài lái a!
Old Sun is no good at fighting underwater... I've got it! Guanyin! Come quick!
- Narrator 天上飞来一片白云，观音菩萨就站在白云上。
Tiānshàng fēi lái yí piàn bái yún, Guānyīn Púsà jiù zhàn zài bái yún shang.
A white cloud came flying across the sky, and there stood Guanyin upon it.
- Guanyin 悟空，你叫我做什么？
Wùkōng, nǐ jiào wǒ zuò shénme?
Wukong, why did you call me?
- Sun Wukong 菩萨！你给我师父一个紧箍儿，老孙的头都疼死了！
Púsà! Nǐ gěi wǒ shīfu yí gè jǐn gūr, Lǎo Sūn de tóu dōu téng sǐ le!
Guanyin! You gave my master that golden headband, and it nearly split Old Sun's head in two!
- Guanyin 你这只猴子！没有紧箍儿，你会听师父的话吗？
Nǐ zhè zhī hóuzi! Méiyǒu jǐn gūr, nǐ huì tīng shīfu de huà ma?
Oh, you monkey! Without the headband, would you ever listen to your master?
- Sun Wukong 这个……可能……不会。
Zhège… kěnéng… bú huì.
Well... maybe... not.
- Guanyin 小白龙，出来吧！你等的人来了！
Xiǎo Báilóng, chūlái ba! Nǐ děng de rén lái le!
Little White Dragon, come out! The one you've been waiting for is here!
- Little White Dragon 菩萨！我在这里等了好久了。可是……他在哪儿？
Púsà! Wǒ zài zhèlǐ děng le hǎojiǔ le. Kěshì… tā zài nǎr?
Guanyin! I've waited here for so long. But... where is he?
- Guanyin 那就是去西天取经的唐僧。这只猴子，是他的徒弟。
Nà jiù shì qù Xītiān qǔjīng de Táng Sēng. Zhè zhī hóuzi, shì tā de túdì.
That is Tang Seng, the monk going to the West for the scriptures. And this monkey is his disciple.
- Little White Dragon 什么？他打了我半天，一句也没说取经的事！他只会叫我小虫子！
Shénme? Tā dǎ le wǒ bàntiān, yí jù yě méi shuō qǔjīng de shì! Tā zhǐ huì jiào wǒ xiǎo chóngzi!
What? He's been hitting me all day and never said a word about scriptures! All he did was call me a little worm!
- Sun Wukong 你也没问啊！
Nǐ yě méi wèn a!
Well, you never asked!
- Guanyin 他是西海龙王的儿子。他放火烧了他爸爸的宝珠，玉帝要罚他。
Tā shì Xī Hǎi Lóngwáng de érzi. Tā fànghuǒ shāo le tā bàba de bǎozhū, Yùdì yào fá tā.
He is the son of the Dragon King of the Western Sea. He set fire to his father's precious pearls, and the Jade Emperor was going to punish him.
- Guanyin 我救了他，让他在这里等你们。小白龙，从今天起，你就做唐僧的马吧。
Wǒ jiù le tā, ràng tā zài zhèlǐ děng nǐmen. Xiǎo Báilóng, cóng jīntiān qǐ, nǐ jiù zuò Táng Sēng de mǎ ba.
I saved him, and told him to wait here for you. Little White Dragon, from this day on, you will be Tang Seng's horse.
- Little White Dragon 是，菩萨。我吃了他的马，现在，我来做他的马！
Shì, Púsà. Wǒ chī le tā de mǎ, xiànzài, wǒ lái zuò tā de mǎ!
Yes, Guanyin. I ate his horse, so now I'll be his horse!
- Narrator 菩萨的柳枝一动，小白龙就变成了一匹漂亮的白马。
Púsà de liǔzhī yí dòng, Xiǎo Báilóng jiù biànchéng le yì pǐ piàoliang de bái mǎ.
With one wave of Guanyin's willow sprig, the Little White Dragon became a beautiful white horse.
- Tang Seng 好漂亮的白马！阿弥陀佛，谢谢菩萨！
Hǎo piàoliang de bái mǎ! Ēmítuófó, xièxie Púsà!
What a beautiful white horse! Amitabha! Thank you, Guanyin!
- Narrator 又走了很多天。这天晚上，他们来到高老庄。一个老人跑过来，拉住了唐僧。
Yòu zǒu le hěn duō tiān. Zhè tiān wǎnshang, tāmen láidào Gāolǎo Zhuāng. Yí gè lǎorén pǎo guòlái, lā zhù le Táng Sēng.
They traveled on for many more days. Then one evening they reached Gao Village, where an old man came running up and caught hold of Tang Seng's sleeve.
- Old Gao 两位师父，请救救我的女儿！我的女婿，是个妖怪！
Liǎng wèi shīfu, qǐng jiùjiu wǒ de nǚ'ér! Wǒ de nǚxu, shì gè yāoguài!
Masters, please save my daughter! My son-in-law is a monster!
- Sun Wukong 妖怪？老孙最喜欢抓妖怪了！他长什么样子？
Yāoguài? Lǎo Sūn zuì xǐhuan zhuā yāoguài le! Tā zhǎng shénme yàngzi?
A monster? Catching monsters is Old Sun's favorite thing! What does he look like?
- Old Gao 他……他的脸，长得像一头大猪！
Tā… tā de liǎn, zhǎng de xiàng yì tóu dà zhū!
His... his face looks just like a big pig's!
