Twenty minutes are up, and Pinocchio races back to see his tree of gold. A parrot has been watching the field, and it can't stop laughing.

Twenty minutes later, Pinocchio came running happily back to the Field of Miracles.
- Pinocchio 我的金币树呢？……怎么什么也没有？
Wǒ de jīnbì shù ne? … Zěnme shénme yě méiyǒu?
Where's my money tree? ...Why is there nothing here?
- Narrator 他在地上找啊找，可是四个金币都不见了。
Tā zài dì shang zhǎo a zhǎo, kěshì sì gè jīnbì dōu bú jiàn le.
He searched the ground over and over, but all four gold coins were gone.

Shéi zài xiào? … Shì shù shang de nà zhī yīngwǔ? Yǒu shénme hǎoxiào de?
Who's laughing? ...That parrot up in the tree? What's so funny?
- The Parrot 我在笑一个小木偶。他以为，钱会从地里长出来！
Wǒ zài xiào yí gè xiǎo mù'ǒu. Tā yǐwéi, qián huì cóng dì lǐ zhǎng chūlái!
I'm laughing at a little puppet who thinks money grows out of the ground!
- Pinocchio 你……你是什么意思？
Nǐ… nǐ shì shénme yìsi?
What... what do you mean?
- The Parrot 你一走，狐狸和猫就回来了。他们拿了你的金币，跑得比风还快！
Nǐ yì zǒu, húli hé māo jiù huílái le. Tāmen ná le nǐ de jīnbì, pǎo de bǐ fēng hái kuài!
The minute you left, the Fox and the Cat came back. They took your coins and ran off faster than the wind!
- Pinocchio 我的金币……爸爸的大衣……都没有了！
Wǒ de jīnbì… bàba de dàyī… dōu méiyǒu le!
My gold coins... Papa's coat... all gone!
- The Parrot 钱不会长在地里！想要钱，就要用手做，用头想！
Qián bú huì zhǎng zài dì lǐ! Xiǎng yào qián, jiù yào yòng shǒu zuò, yòng tóu xiǎng!
Money doesn't grow in the ground! If you want money, you have to work for it with your hands and your head!
- Narrator 匹诺曹哭着走了一天一夜，才回到了那个白房子。
Pǐnuòcáo kūzhe zǒu le yì tiān yí yè, cái huí dào le nàge bái fángzi.
Pinocchio walked a whole day and a night, crying, before he found the little white house again.
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 匹诺曹，你回来了！你去哪儿了？你的金币呢？
Pǐnuòcáo, nǐ huílái le! Nǐ qù nǎr le? Nǐ de jīnbì ne?
Pinocchio, you're back! Where have you been? And where are your coins?
- Pinocchio 金币？我……我……
Jīnbì? Wǒ… wǒ…
The coins? I... I...
- Pinocchio 不，我不说谎了。狐狸和猫拿了我的金币。都是我不好……
Bù, wǒ bù shuōhuǎng le. Húli hé māo ná le wǒ de jīnbì. Dōu shì wǒ bù hǎo…
No. I'm not lying anymore. The Fox and the Cat took my coins. It's all my fault...
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 你看，这一次你的鼻子没有变长。好，我不生你的气了。
Nǐ kàn, zhè yí cì nǐ de bízi méiyǒu biàn cháng. Hǎo, wǒ bù shēng nǐ de qì le.
You see? This time your nose didn't grow. All right, I'm not angry with you anymore.
- Pinocchio 我爸爸呢？他来了吗？
Wǒ bàba ne? Tā lái le ma?
What about my papa? Did he come?
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 他来了，可是找不到你。他到处找，最后坐着小船，去海上找你了。
Tā lái le, kěshì zhǎo bú dào nǐ. Tā dàochù zhǎo, zuìhòu zuòzhe xiǎo chuán, qù hǎi shang zhǎo nǐ le.
He came, but he couldn't find you. He looked everywhere, and in the end he took a little boat out to sea to look for you.
- Pinocchio 爸爸……都是因为我！我要去找他！
Bàba… dōu shì yīnwèi wǒ! Wǒ yào qù zhǎo tā!
Papa... it's all because of me! I'm going to find him!
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 你还太小了。先做一个好孩子，去上学吧。
Nǐ hái tài xiǎo le. Xiān zuò yí gè hǎo háizi, qù shàngxué ba.
You're still too little. First, be a good boy and go to school.
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 一年以后，如果你还是一个好孩子，你就会变成真正的孩子！
Yì nián yǐhòu, rúguǒ nǐ hái shi yí gè hǎo háizi, nǐ jiù huì biànchéng zhēnzhèng de háizi!
If you're still a good boy a year from now, you'll become a real boy!
- Pinocchio 真正的孩子？不是木头的？我保证！这一次，是真的保证！
Zhēnzhèng de háizi? Bú shì mùtou de? Wǒ bǎozhèng! Zhè yí cì, shì zhēn de bǎozhèng!
A real boy? Not made of wood? I promise! And this time it's a real promise!
- Narrator 从那天起，匹诺曹天天去上学。一年过去了，他成了班上最好的学生。
Cóng nà tiān qǐ, Pǐnuòcáo tiāntiān qù shàngxué. Yì nián guòqù le, tā chéng le bān shang zuì hǎo de xuésheng.
From that day on, Pinocchio went to school every day. A year went by, and he became the best pupil in his class.
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 匹诺曹，明天你就是真正的孩子了！去请你的朋友们来吃饭吧！
Pǐnuòcáo, míngtiān nǐ jiù shì zhēnzhèng de háizi le! Qù qǐng nǐ de péngyoumen lái chī fàn ba!
Pinocchio, tomorrow you'll be a real boy! Go and invite your friends to a party!
- Pinocchio 太好了！我这就去请大家！
Tài hǎo le! Wǒ zhè jiù qù qǐng dàjiā!
Hooray! I'll go and invite everyone right now!
- Narrator 在路上，他看见了同学小灯芯。小灯芯最不喜欢上学了。
Zài lù shang, tā kànjiàn le tóngxué Xiǎo Dēngxīn. Xiǎo Dēngxīn zuì bù xǐhuan shàngxué le.
On the way he ran into his classmate Lampwick, who hated school more than anyone.
- Lampwick 匹诺曹，你来得正好！今天晚上，我就要走了！
Pǐnuòcáo, nǐ lái de zhènghǎo! Jīntiān wǎnshang, wǒ jiù yào zǒu le!
Pinocchio, just the fellow I wanted to see! Tonight, I'm leaving!
- Pinocchio 走？你要去哪儿？
Zǒu? Nǐ yào qù nǎr?
Leaving? Where are you going?
- Lampwick 玩具国！那里没有学校，没有老师，天天都可以玩儿！
Wánjù Guó! Nàlǐ méiyǒu xuéxiào, méiyǒu lǎoshī, tiāntiān dōu kěyǐ wánr!
Toyland! There's no school there and no teachers. You can play every single day!
- Pinocchio 天天都可以玩儿？……
Tiāntiān dōu kěyǐ wánr? …
Play every single day...?
- Lampwick 半夜，车就来接我们了。匹诺曹，跟我一起去吧！
Bànyè, chē jiù lái jiē wǒmen le. Pǐnuòcáo, gēn wǒ yìqǐ qù ba!
At midnight, the coach comes to pick us up. Come with me, Pinocchio!
