On the road home stood a fox and a cat. The Fox had a bad leg, and the Cat couldn't see.
- The Fox 匹诺曹，你好啊！
Pǐnuòcáo, nǐ hǎo a!
Well, hello there, Pinocchio!
- Pinocchio 你好！你怎么知道我的名字？
Nǐ hǎo! Nǐ zěnme zhīdào wǒ de míngzi?
Hello! How do you know my name?

I'm an old friend of your father's! I saw him only yesterday. He had no coat on, and he was freezing.
- Pinocchio 可怜的爸爸！不过，他以后不会冷了。你们看，五个金币！
Kělián de bàba! Búguò, tā yǐhòu bú huì lěng le. Nǐmen kàn, wǔ gè jīnbì!
Poor Papa! But he won't be cold anymore. Look, five gold coins!
- Narrator 金币一响，猫忽然看了金币一眼，又马上闭上了眼睛。
Jīnbì yì xiǎng, māo hūrán kàn le jīnbì yì yǎn, yòu mǎshàng bì shang le yǎnjing.
The moment the coins jingled, the Cat took a quick look at them, then shut his eyes again fast.
- The Cat 金币！金币！
Jīnbì! Jīnbì!
Gold coins! Gold coins!
- The Fox 五个？太少了！你想不想要一千个金币？
Wǔ gè? Tài shǎo le! Nǐ xiǎng bu xiǎng yào yìqiān gè jīnbì?
Only five? That's nothing! How would you like a thousand gold coins?
- Pinocchio 一千个？怎么会有一千个？
Yìqiān gè? Zěnme huì yǒu yìqiān gè?
A thousand? How could anyone get a thousand?
- The Fox 不远的地方，有一块奇迹田。你把金币种在地里，再给它一点儿水……
Bù yuǎn de dìfang, yǒu yí kuài Qíjì Tián. Nǐ bǎ jīnbì zhòng zài dì lǐ, zài gěi tā yìdiǎnr shuǐ…
Not far from here, there's a Field of Miracles. You plant your coins in the ground, give them a little water...
- The Cat 一点儿水！一点儿水！
Yìdiǎnr shuǐ! Yìdiǎnr shuǐ!
A little water! A little water!
- The Fox 第二天早上，地里就长出一棵大树，树上都是金币！
Dì'èr tiān zǎoshang, dì lǐ jiù zhǎng chū yì kē dà shù, shù shang dōu shì jīnbì!
And by the next morning, up comes a big tree, covered in gold coins!
- The Cat 都是金币！都是金币！
Dōu shì jīnbì! Dōu shì jīnbì!
Covered in gold! Covered in gold!
- Pinocchio 一千个金币！我可以给爸爸买一百件大衣！好，我跟你们去！
Yìqiān gè jīnbì! Wǒ kěyǐ gěi bàba mǎi yìbǎi jiàn dàyī! Hǎo, wǒ gēn nǐmen qù!
A thousand gold coins! I could buy Papa a hundred coats! All right, I'll come with you!
- Narrator 晚上在红虾旅馆，狐狸和猫吃了很多很多。半夜，他们先去了奇迹田。
Wǎnshang zài Hóngxiā Lǚguǎn, húli hé māo chī le hěn duō hěn duō. Bànyè, tāmen xiān qù le Qíjì Tián.
That night, at the Red Shrimp Inn, the Fox and the Cat ate and ate and ate. At midnight, the two of them went on ahead to the Field of Miracles.
- Pinocchio 他们吃了那么多，都要我给钱！现在只有四个金币了……
Tāmen chī le nàme duō, dōu yào wǒ gěi qián! Xiànzài zhǐ yǒu sì gè jīnbì le…
They ate all that, and I had to pay for it! Now I've only got four gold coins left...
- Narrator 外面的路很黑。忽然，树上有一点儿小小的光。
Wàimiàn de lù hěn hēi. Hūrán, shù shang yǒu yìdiǎnr xiǎoxiǎo de guāng.
The road outside was very dark. Suddenly, a tiny light glowed on a tree.
- The Talking Cricket 匹诺曹，是我，会说话的蟋蟀！快回家吧，别相信他们！
Pǐnuòcáo, shì wǒ, huì shuōhuà de xīshuài! Kuài huí jiā ba, bié xiāngxìn tāmen!
Pinocchio, it's me, the Talking Cricket! Go home, quick! Don't believe them!
- Pinocchio 又是你！我才不回家呢！明天我就有一千个金币了！
Yòu shì nǐ! Wǒ cái bù huí jiā ne! Míngtiān wǒ jiù yǒu yìqiān gè jīnbì le!
You again! I'm not going home! Tomorrow I'll have a thousand gold coins!
- The Talking Cricket 一个晚上就有一千个金币？这样的话，不要相信啊！
Yí gè wǎnshang jiù yǒu yìqiān gè jīnbì? Zhèyàng de huà, bú yào xiāngxìn a!
A thousand gold coins in one night? Never believe talk like that!
- Narrator 忽然，两个穿黑衣服的人跳了出来。
Hūrán, liǎng gè chuān hēi yīfu de rén tiào le chūlái.
Suddenly, two figures dressed all in black leapt out.
- The Fox 要钱，还是要命？
Yào qián, háishi yào mìng?
Your money or your life?
- The Cat 要命！要命！
Yào mìng! Yào mìng!
Your life! Your life!
- Pinocchio 这两个声音……好像在哪儿听过？不好，快把金币放进嘴里！
Zhè liǎng gè shēngyīn… hǎoxiàng zài nǎr tīng guo? Bù hǎo, kuài bǎ jīnbì fàng jìn zuǐ lǐ!
Those two voices... where have I heard them before? Oh no! Quick, hide the coins in my mouth!
- The Fox 钱在他嘴里！快抓住他！
Qián zài tā zuǐ lǐ! Kuài zhuāzhù tā!
The money's in his mouth! Grab him!
- Narrator 两个坏人抓住了匹诺曹，把他挂在了一棵大树上。
Liǎng gè huàirén zhuāzhù le Pǐnuòcáo, bǎ tā guà zài le yì kē dà shù shang.
The two villains caught Pinocchio and hung him from a branch of a big tree.
- The Fox 明天我们再来。那时候，你的嘴一定会开的！
Míngtiān wǒmen zài lái. Nà shíhou, nǐ de zuǐ yídìng huì kāi de!
We'll be back tomorrow. By then, that mouth of yours will be open!
- The Cat 一定会开的！一定会开的！
Yídìng huì kāi de! Yídìng huì kāi de!
It'll be open! It'll be open!
- Pinocchio 风好大，好冷……爸爸，你在哪儿？谁来救救我？
Fēng hǎo dà, hǎo lěng… Bàba, nǐ zài nǎr? Shéi lái jiùjiu wǒ?
The wind's so strong, and it's so cold... Papa, where are you? Won't somebody save me?
- Narrator 不远的地方，一个白房子的窗户开了。一个蓝头发的女孩，看着这棵大树。
Bù yuǎn de dìfang, yí gè bái fángzi de chuānghu kāi le. Yí gè lán tóufa de nǚhái, kànzhe zhè kē dà shù.
Not far away, a window opened in a little white house. A girl with blue hair looked out at the big tree.
- The Fairy with Blue Hair 那是什么？……是一个小木偶吗？
Nà shì shénme? … Shì yí gè xiǎo mù'ǒu ma?
