- Lampwick 好吧，那你就在这里看我走吧。
Hǎo ba, nà nǐ jiù zài zhèlǐ kàn wǒ zǒu ba.
Suit yourself. Then you can stand here and watch me go.
- Narrator 半夜，来了一辆大车。拉车的是二十四只小驴，都穿着白鞋子。
Bànyè, lái le yí liàng dà chē. Lā chē de shì èrshísì zhī xiǎo lǘ, dōu chuānzhe bái xiézi.
At midnight, a big coach arrived. It was pulled by twenty-four little donkeys, and every one of them wore little white shoes.

Here I come, Mr. Coachman! ...Goodbye, Pinocchio! Are you really not coming?
- The Coachman 小木偶，玩具国里天天都放假。你不想去看看吗？
Xiǎo mù'ǒu, Wánjù Guó lǐ tiāntiān dōu fàngjià. Nǐ bù xiǎng qù kànkan ma?
Little puppet, in Toyland every day is a holiday. Don't you want to come and see?
- Pinocchio 天天都放假？……
Tiāntiān dōu fàngjià? …
Every day's a holiday...?
- Pinocchio 就去一天。只去一天，明天我就回来。我保证！
Jiù qù yì tiān. Zhǐ qù yì tiān, míngtiān wǒ jiù huílái. Wǒ bǎozhèng!
Just for one day. Only one day, and I'll come straight back tomorrow. I promise!
- Narrator 匹诺曹跳上了车。到了玩具国，孩子们从早上玩儿到晚上。
Pǐnuòcáo tiào shàng le chē. Dào le Wánjù Guó, háizimen cóng zǎoshang wánr dào wǎnshang.
Pinocchio jumped on board. In Toyland, the children played from morning till night.
- Lampwick 匹诺曹，你看！这里没有书，没有老师，多好玩儿！
Pǐnuòcáo, nǐ kàn! Zhèlǐ méiyǒu shū, méiyǒu lǎoshī, duō hǎowánr!
Look, Pinocchio! No books, no teachers! Isn't it great?
- Pinocchio 小灯芯，你说得对！我再也不想上学了！
Xiǎo Dēngxīn, nǐ shuō de duì! Wǒ zài yě bù xiǎng shàngxué le!
Lampwick, you were right! I never want to go to school again!
- Narrator 一天，两天……很快，五个月过去了。
Yì tiān, liǎng tiān… hěn kuài, wǔ gè yuè guòqù le.
One day, two days... and before long, five months had flown by.
- Pinocchio 头上怎么痒痒的？……啊！我的耳朵！怎么这么长？
Tóu shang zěnme yǎngyang de? … A! Wǒ de ěrduo! Zěnme zhème cháng?
Why is the top of my head so itchy? ...Aah! My ears! Why are they so long?
- Pinocchio 是驴耳朵！快，快找个帽子！
Shì lǘ ěrduo! Kuài, kuài zhǎo gè màozi!
They're donkey ears! Quick, quick, find a cap!
- Narrator 匹诺曹戴上一个大帽子，去找小灯芯。小灯芯也戴着一个大帽子。
Pǐnuòcáo dài shang yí gè dà màozi, qù zhǎo Xiǎo Dēngxīn. Xiǎo Dēngxīn yě dàizhe yí gè dà màozi.
Pinocchio pulled on a big cap and went to find Lampwick. Lampwick was wearing a big cap too.
- Pinocchio 小灯芯，天这么热，你为什么戴帽子？
Xiǎo Dēngxīn, tiān zhème rè, nǐ wèishénme dài màozi?
Lampwick, it's so hot today. Why are you wearing a cap?
- Lampwick 我……我头有点儿疼。你呢？你为什么也戴帽子？
Wǒ… wǒ tóu yǒudiǎnr téng. Nǐ ne? Nǐ wèishénme yě dài màozi?
I... I've got a bit of a headache. What about you? Why are you wearing one?
- Pinocchio 我也……不，我不说谎。我们一起拿下帽子吧！一，二，三！
Wǒ yě… bù, wǒ bù shuōhuǎng. Wǒmen yìqǐ ná xià màozi ba! Yī, èr, sān!
Me too... no, I'm not going to lie. Let's take our caps off together! One, two, three!
- Narrator 小灯芯拿下了帽子。匹诺曹的帽子还没拿下来，驴耳朵就从下面站了起来！
Xiǎo Dēngxīn ná xià le màozi. Pǐnuòcáo de màozi hái méi ná xiàlái, lǘ ěrduo jiù cóng xiàmiàn zhàn le qǐlái!
Lampwick pulled off his cap. Pinocchio hadn't even gotten his off yet, but his donkey ears popped right up from under it!
- Lampwick 哈哈哈！匹诺曹，你的耳朵好长！
Hāhāhā! Pǐnuòcáo, nǐ de ěrduo hǎo cháng!
Ha ha ha! Pinocchio, your ears are so long!
- Pinocchio 哈哈哈！小灯芯，你的耳朵更长！
Hāhāhā! Xiǎo Dēngxīn, nǐ de ěrduo gèng cháng!
Ha ha ha! Lampwick, yours are even longer!
- Narrator 他们笑着笑着，忽然站不住了。他们的手，也变成了驴脚！
Tāmen xiàozhe xiàozhe, hūrán zhàn bú zhù le. Tāmen de shǒu, yě biànchéng le lǘ jiǎo!
Right in the middle of their laughing, they suddenly couldn't stand up. Their hands had turned into hooves!
- Lampwick 救命啊！匹诺曹，我不想当驴！
Jiùmìng a! Pǐnuòcáo, wǒ bù xiǎng dāng lǘ!
Help! Pinocchio, I don't want to be a donkey!
- Pinocchio 会说话的蟋蟀说得对……不听话的孩子，真的会变成驴！
Huì shuōhuà de xīshuài shuō de duì… Bù tīnghuà de háizi, zhēn de huì biànchéng lǘ!
The Talking Cricket was right... Children who don't listen really do turn into donkeys!
- The Coachman 好驴，好驴！明天拿到市场上，能卖很多钱！
Hǎo lǘ, hǎo lǘ! Míngtiān ná dào shìchǎng shang, néng mài hěn duō qián!
Fine donkeys, fine donkeys! I'll take them to market tomorrow, and they'll fetch a pretty price!
- Narrator 第二天，在市场上，一个男人看了看这头小驴。
Dì'èr tiān, zài shìchǎng shang, yí gè nánrén kàn le kàn zhè tóu xiǎo lǘ.
The next day, at the market, a man stopped to look the little donkey over.
- The Buyer 这头小驴太小了，干不了活儿……可是，它的皮很不错。
Zhè tóu xiǎo lǘ tài xiǎo le, gàn bù liǎo huór… Kěshì, tā de pí hěn búcuò.
This donkey's too small to do any real work... But its skin is very nice.
- The Buyer 我买了！用它的皮，我可以做一个大鼓！
Wǒ mǎi le! Yòng tā de pí, wǒ kěyǐ zuò yí gè dà gǔ!
I'll take it! With that skin I can make myself a big drum!
- Pinocchio 做鼓？用我的皮？仙女……爸爸……谁来救救我？
Zuò gǔ? Yòng wǒ de pí? Xiānnǚ… bàba… shéi lái jiùjiu wǒ?
A drum? Out of my skin? Fairy... Papa... won't anyone save me?
