Hāha, nà dāngrán! Wǒ shì zuì lìhai de yāoguài!
Ha ha, of course! I'm the mightiest ogre there is!
- Puss 可是，大家还说，您也能变成很小的动物，比如一只小老鼠。
Kěshì, dàjiā hái shuō, nín yě néng biàn chéng hěn xiǎo de dòngwù, bǐrú yì zhī xiǎo lǎoshǔ.
But people also say you can turn into tiny animals too, like a little mouse.

That I really don't believe. A lion is so big, and a mouse is so small. It's impossible!
- The Ogre 不可能？我是妖怪，没有不可能的事！你看着！
Bù kěnéng? Wǒ shì yāoguài, méiyǒu bù kěnéng de shì! Nǐ kànzhe!
Impossible? I'm an ogre! Nothing is impossible for me! Watch this!
- Narrator 妖怪变了。地上多了一只小小的老鼠，跑来跑去。
Yāoguài biàn le. Dì shang duō le yì zhī xiǎoxiǎo de lǎoshǔ, pǎo lái pǎo qù.
The ogre changed. Now a tiny little mouse was scurrying back and forth across the floor.
- The Ogre 吱吱！小猫，看见了吗？我变小了！
Zhīzhī! Xiǎo māo, kànjiàn le ma? Wǒ biàn xiǎo le!
Squeak, squeak! See that, little cat? I've made myself small!
- Puss 看见了！还有，我不叫小猫，我叫猫先生！……啊呜！
Kànjiàn le! Háiyǒu, wǒ bú jiào xiǎo māo, wǒ jiào Māo xiānsheng! … Āwū!
Oh, I see you! And the name's not "little cat." It's Mister Cat! …CHOMP!
- Narrator 从那天起，再也没有人见过那个妖怪。
Cóng nà tiān qǐ, zài yě méiyǒu rén jiàn guo nàge yāoguài.
From that day on, no one ever saw the ogre again.
- Puss 抓老鼠？这是我最会的！现在，这座城堡没有主人了。
Zhuā lǎoshǔ? Zhè shì wǒ zuì huì de! Xiànzài, zhè zuò chéngbǎo méiyǒu zhǔrén le.
Catching mice? That's what I do best! And now, this castle has no master.
- Narrator 这时候，国王的马车来到了城堡门口。
Zhè shíhou, guówáng de mǎchē lái dào le chéngbǎo ménkǒu.
Just then, the king's carriage rolled up to the castle gate.
- Puss 欢迎国王！欢迎来到卡拉巴斯侯爵的城堡！
Huānyíng guówáng! Huānyíng lái dào Kǎlābāsī hóujué de chéngbǎo!
Welcome, Your Majesty! Welcome to the castle of the Marquis of Carabas!
- The Miller's Son 我的……城堡？
Wǒ de… chéngbǎo?
My… castle?
- The King 什么？侯爵，这座城堡也是你的？比我的王宫还漂亮！快，我们进去看看！
Shénme? Hóujué, zhè zuò chéngbǎo yě shì nǐ de? Bǐ wǒ de wánggōng hái piàoliang! Kuài, wǒmen jìnqù kànkan!
What? Marquis, this castle is yours too? It's even grander than my palace! Come, let's go in and look!
- The Princess 侯爵，你的城堡真大！你为什么不早一点儿告诉我们？
Hóujué, nǐ de chéngbǎo zhēn dà! Nǐ wèishénme bù zǎo yìdiǎnr gàosu wǒmen?
Marquis, your castle is enormous! Why didn't you tell us sooner?
- The Miller's Son 我……我也是今天才知道。
Wǒ… wǒ yě shì jīntiān cái zhīdào.
I… I only found out today myself.
- Narrator 大厅里有一大桌饭菜，是妖怪给朋友们做的。朋友们听说国王来了，都不敢进来。
Dàtīng lǐ yǒu yí dà zhuō fàncài, shì yāoguài gěi péngyoumen zuò de. Péngyoumen tīngshuō guówáng lái le, dōu bù gǎn jìnlái.
In the great hall stood a huge feast the ogre had made for his friends. But when they heard the king was there, none of them dared to come in.
- The King 这么多好吃的！侯爵，你太客气了！今天晚上，我们……什么都吃！
Zhème duō hǎochī de! Hóujué, nǐ tài kèqi le! Jīntiān wǎnshang, wǒmen… shénme dōu chī!
So much delicious food! Marquis, you really shouldn't have! Tonight, we're having… everything!
- Narrator 国王吃得很高兴，喝了五六杯酒。
Guówáng chī de hěn gāoxìng, hē le wǔ liù bēi jiǔ.
The king ate happily and drank five or six cups of wine.
- The Princess 侯爵，你今天怎么不说话？
Hóujué, nǐ jīntiān zěnme bù shuōhuà?
Marquis, why are you so quiet today?
- The Miller's Son 对不起，公主。我很喜欢你，所以……不知道说什么好。
Duìbuqǐ, gōngzhǔ. Wǒ hěn xǐhuan nǐ, suǒyǐ… bù zhīdào shuō shénme hǎo.
I'm sorry, Princess. I like you so much that… I don't know what to say.
- The King 侯爵，你又年轻，又有钱，我的女儿也喜欢你。
Hóujué, nǐ yòu niánqīng, yòu yǒu qián, wǒ de nǚ'ér yě xǐhuan nǐ.

Wǒ… wǒ yě yuànyì! Xièxie guówáng! Xièxie gōngzhǔ!

- Narrator 那天，侯爵和公主就结婚了。
Nà tiān, hóujué hé gōngzhǔ jiù jiéhūn le.
That very day, the Marquis and the princess were married.
- The Miller's Son 猫先生，你真聪明！没有你，就没有今天的我。你想要什么？
Māo xiānsheng, nǐ zhēn cōngming! Méiyǒu nǐ, jiù méiyǒu jīntiān de wǒ. Nǐ xiǎng yào shénme?
Mister Cat, you're so clever! Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. What would you like?
- Puss 我只要一样东西：以后，请叫我猫大人！
Wǒ zhǐ yào yí yàng dōngxi: yǐhòu, qǐng jiào wǒ Māo dàrén!
I want just one thing. From now on, please call me Lord Cat!
- The Miller's Son 好，猫大人！那你以后还抓老鼠吗？
Hǎo, Māo dàrén! Nà nǐ yǐhòu hái zhuā lǎoshǔ ma?
All right, Lord Cat! So will you still catch mice?
- Puss 抓啊。可是现在，只是为了好玩儿！
Zhuā a. Kěshì xiànzài, zhǐshì wèile hǎowánr!
