Dr. Roylott is sitting in the chair... he isn't moving at all.

Don't move, Watson. That is the speckled band. It is a deadly snake.

Shé! Yuánlái Zhūlìyà shuō de shì yìtiáo shé!
A snake! So that is what Julia meant!
- Sherlock Holmes 对。她说的不是一条带子，是一条会动的花斑带。
Duì. Tā shuō de búshì yìtiáo dàizi, shì yìtiáo huìdòng de huābān dài.
Yes. She did not mean a ribbon. She meant a moving, speckled band.
- Sherlock Holmes 安静。我要用这根鞭子把它套住。
Ānjìng. Wǒyào yòng zhègēn biānzi bǎ tā tàozhù.
Quiet. I'm going to catch it with this whip.
- Dr. Watson 小心，福尔摩斯！它在看你。
Xiǎoxīn, Fú'ěrmósī! Tā zài kàn nǐ.
Careful, Holmes! It's looking at you.
- Sherlock Holmes 别怕。它怕灯光……好了！
Biépà. Tā pà dēngguāng… Hǎo le!
Don't be afraid. It hates the light... There!
- Sherlock Holmes 你看，我把它关进铁箱里了。现在它不会再害人了。
Nǐ kàn, wǒ bǎ tā guānjìn tiěxiāng lǐ le. Xiànzài tā búhuì zài hàirén le.
See, I've shut it in the iron safe. It can't hurt anyone now.
- Dr. Watson 可是罗伊洛特医生……他已经死了。
Kěshì Luóyīluòtè yīshēng… Tā yǐjīng sǐ le.
But Dr. Roylott... he is dead.
- Sherlock Holmes 是的。他想害海伦小姐，可是他自己的蛇转过头来咬了他。
Shì de. Tā xiǎnghài Hǎilún xiǎojie, kěshì tā zìjǐ de shé zhuǎnguò tóulái yǎo le tā.
Yes. He meant to hurt Miss Helen, but his own snake turned on him.
- Sherlock Holmes 这是他自己的计划，他自己害了自己。我不为他难过。
Zhè shì tā zìjǐ de jìhuà, tā zìjǐ hài le zìjǐ. Wǒ bú wèi tā nánguò.
It was his own plan, and he brought it on himself. I do not grieve for him.
- Dr. Watson 福尔摩斯，你是什么时候明白的？
Fú'ěrmósī, nǐ shì shénme shíhou míngbai de?
When did you understand it?
- Sherlock Holmes 是通风口和铃绳。铃绳是给蛇爬下去的路。
Shì tōngfēng kǒu hé líng shéng. Líng shéng shì gěi shé páxiàqù de lù.
The ventilator and the bell-rope. The rope was a road for the snake to climb down.
- Dr. Watson 那牛奶呢？
Nà niúnǎi ne?
And the milk?
- Sherlock Holmes 他用口哨叫蛇回来，再给它牛奶。所以海伦才听到口哨声。
Tā yòng kǒushào jiào shé huílái, zài gěi tā niúnǎi. Suǒyǐ Hǎilún cái tīngdào kǒushào shēng.
He whistled the snake back, then gave it milk. That's why Helen heard the whistle.
- Dr. Watson 姐姐死的那天晚上，也是这样吗？
Jiějie sǐ de nàtiān wǎnshang, yě shì zhèyàng ma?
Was it the same the night her sister died?
- Sherlock Holmes 对。门窗都关着，可是蛇可以爬过通风口。
Duì. Ménchuāng dōu guānzhe, kěshì shé kěyǐ pá guò tōngfēng kǒu.
Yes. Door and window were shut, but a snake can cross through a ventilator.
- Sherlock Holmes 他想要她们的钱，所以他不想让她们结婚。
Tā xiǎngyào tāmen de qián, suǒyǐ tā bùxiǎng ràng tāmen jiéhūn.
He wanted their money, so he didn't want them to marry.
- Dr. Watson 太可怕了。福尔摩斯，你刚才也很危险，我的手还在发抖！
Tài kěpà le. Fú'ěrmósī, nǐ gāngcái yě hěn wēixiǎn, wǒ de shǒu hái zài fādǒu!
How terrible. Holmes, you were in danger too, and my hands are still shaking!
- Sherlock Holmes 我也有错。我差点儿让海伦小姐一个人睡在那里。
Wǒ yě yǒu cuò. Wǒ chàdiǎnr ràng Hǎilún xiǎojie yígè rén shuì zài nàlǐ.
I was also at fault. I nearly left Miss Helen to sleep in that room alone.
- Helen Stoner 福尔摩斯先生，您真是最好的侦探。华生医生……昨晚，我一夜都没有睡。
Fú'ěrmósī xiānsheng, nín zhēnshì zuìhǎo de zhēntàn. Huáshēng yīshēng… Zuówǎn, wǒ yíyè dōu méiyǒu shuì.
Mr. Holmes, you truly are the best detective. Dr. Watson... last night I did not sleep at all.
- Sherlock Holmes 海伦小姐，你现在安全了。你的继父再也不会伤害你了。
Hǎilún xiǎojie, nǐ xiànzài ānquán le. Nǐ de jìfù zàiyě búhuì shānghài nǐ le.
Miss Helen, you are safe now. Your stepfather will never hurt you again.
- Helen Stoner 我的姐姐……她现在可以安心了吗？
Wǒ de jiějie… Tā xiànzài kěyǐ ānxīn le ma?
My sister... can she rest in peace now?
- Sherlock Holmes 可以。现在你知道她说的“花斑带”是什么了。
Kěyǐ. Xiànzài nǐ zhīdào tā shuō de “huābān dài” shì shénme le.
She can. Now you know what she meant by the “speckled band.”
- Helen Stoner 谢谢你们两位。我永远不会忘记今天。
Xièxie nǐmen liǎngwèi. Wǒ yǒngyuǎn búhuì wàngjì jīntiān.

Holmes, why do you have a new letter in your pocket?
- Sherlock Holmes 哦，这封信！有人说，他家每天晚上都会丢一样东西……

Oh, this letter! Someone says that every night, one thing goes missing from his house...
