The Giant's House
巨人的家
A storm sends Sinbad and Salim to a giant's stone house where the owner is looking for supper. Sinbad's only weapon is a very long bedtime story.

On the third voyage, a strong wind rose over the sea. The ship broke apart, and Sinbad and Salim came to a giant's stone house.
- Salim 这个房子好大！你看，桌子有一座房子那么高！
Zhège fángzi hǎodà! Nǐ kàn, zhuōzi yǒu yízuò fángzi nàme gāo!
This house is huge! Look, the table is as tall as a house!
- Sinbad the Sailor 别大声说话，萨利姆。这个地方有点儿不对。
Bié dàshēng shuōhuà, Sàlìmǔ. Zhège dìfang yǒudiǎnr bú duì.
Don't talk loudly, Salim. Something is off about this place.

Think about it. What kind of person uses a table this big?
- The Giant 是谁在我的家里？！你们是谁？！
Shì shuí zài wǒ de jiālǐ?! Nǐmen shì shuí?!
Who is in my house?! Who are you?!
- Salim 辛巴达，我想回家。我不想被吃。
Xīnbādá, wǒ xiǎng huíjiā. Wǒ bùxiǎng bèi chī.
Sinbad, I want to go home. I don't want to be eaten.
- The Giant 我闻到了两个小人的味道！太好了，今天晚上我有汤喝了！
Wǒ wéndào le liǎnggè xiǎorén de wèidao! Tàihǎole, jīntiān wǎnshang wǒ yǒu tāng hē le!
I smell two little people! Wonderful, tonight I'll have soup!
- Sinbad the Sailor 巨人先生，请等一等。我们太瘦了，做出来的汤不会好喝。
Jùrén xiānsheng, qǐng děngyìděng. Wǒmen tàishòu le, zuò chūlái de tāng búhuì hǎohē.
Mr. Giant, please wait. We're too thin. The soup wouldn't taste good.
- The Giant 是吗？你们看起来是很小。
Shì ma? Nǐmen kànqǐlái shì hěnxiǎo.
Is that so? You do look very small.
- Sinbad the Sailor 对！你等一个月再吃，我们会又胖又大，汤也会更好喝。
Duì! Nǐ děng yígèyuè zài chī, wǒmen huì yòu pàng yòu dà, tāng yě huì gènghǎo hē.
Yes! Wait a month before you eat us, and we'll be fat and big, and the soup will taste better.
- Salim 辛巴达，你到底在做什么？
Xīnbādá, nǐ dàodǐ zài zuò shénme?
Sinbad, what on earth are you doing?
- Sinbad the Sailor 我在想办法。你不要说话，听我的。
Wǒ zài xiǎng bànfǎ. Nǐ búyào shuōhuà, tīng wǒ de.
I'm working on a plan. Don't say anything, just trust me.
- The Giant 好吧。我今天很累，也不太高兴，我想先睡一会儿。
Hǎo ba. Wǒ jīntiān hěnlèi, yě bú tàigāoxìng, wǒ xiǎng xiān shuì yíhuìr.
Fine. I'm tired today and not in a good mood. I want to sleep for a while first.
- Sinbad the Sailor 巨人先生累了吗？我给您讲一个睡前故事吧。
Jùrén xiānsheng lèi le ma? Wǒ gěi nín jiǎng yígè shuìqián gùshi ba.
Is Mr. Giant tired? Let me tell you a bedtime story.
- The Giant 故事？好啊，我最喜欢听故事了。
Gùshi? Hǎo a, wǒ zuì xǐhuan tīng gùshi le.
A story? Fine, I love stories.
- Sinbad the Sailor 很久很久以前，有一座高山，山上有一只很懒很懒的羊……
Hěnjiǔhěnjiǔ yǐqián, yǒu yízuò gāoshān, shānshàng yǒu yìzhī hěn lǎn hěn lǎn de yáng…
Long, long ago, there was a tall mountain, and on the mountain lived a very, very lazy sheep...
- The Giant 然后呢……羊……它在……
Ránhòu ne… Yáng… Tā zài…
And then... the sheep... it was....
- Salim 他睡着了！你的故事真好听！
Tā shuìzháo le! Nǐ de gùshi zhēn hǎotīng!
He's asleep! Your story is wonderful!
- Sinbad the Sailor 快，我们去海边！用外面的木头做一条小船。
Kuài, wǒmen qù hǎibiān! Yòng wàimiàn de mùtou zuò yìtiáo xiǎochuán.
Quick, to the shore! We'll make a little boat from the wood outside.
- Salim 他会不会很快就醒来？
Tāhuì búhuì hěnkuài jiù xǐnglái?
Will he wake up soon?
- Sinbad the Sailor 他还没有听到故事的结尾，一定会睡到明天早上。
Tā hái méiyǒu tīngdào gùshi de jiéwěi, yídìng huì shuì dào míngtiān zǎoshang.
He hasn't heard the end of the story, so he'll surely sleep until morning.
- Salim 船下水了！快上来，辛巴达先生！
Chuán xiàshuǐ le! Kuàishànglái, Xīnbādá xiānsheng!
The boat's in the water! Get on, Mr. Sinbad!
- Sinbad the Sailor 快，快，快！用力！
Kuài, kuài, kuài! Yònglì!
Quick, quick, quick! Put your back into it!
- Salim 我们成功了！你是我见过的最会讲故事的人！
Wǒmen chénggōng le! Nǐ shì wǒ jiàn guò de zuìhuì jiǎnggùshi de rén!
We did it! You're the best storyteller I've ever met!
- Sinbad the Sailor 那是我讲得最好的一次，因为我怕得要命。
Nà shì wǒ jiǎng dé zuìhǎo de yícì, yīnwèi wǒ pàdéyàomìng.
That was my best telling ever, because I was scared to death.
- The Giant 小人！你的故事还没有结尾！回来给我讲完！

Little man! Your story has no ending yet! Come back and finish it for me!
- Salim 他醒了！辛巴达，他在往海里扔石头！
Tāxǐng le! Xīnbādá, tā zài wǎng hǎilǐ rēng shítou!
He's awake! Sinbad, he's throwing rocks into the sea!
- Sinbad the Sailor 萨利姆，用力！不然我们就要变成汤了！
Sàlìmǔ, yònglì! Bùrán wǒmen jiùyào biànchéng tāng le!
Salim, paddle hard! Or we're going to turn into soup!
