Alone on the dark road home, Ichabod jumps at every owl and branch until a rider with no head begins to follow him.

At midnight, Teacher Crane rode home alone on his old horse.
- Ichabod Crane 别怕，别怕……这只是风，只是风。
Bié pà, bié pà… zhè zhǐshì fēng, zhǐshì fēng.
Don't be afraid, don't be afraid… it's only the wind, only the wind.
- Ichabod Crane 老马，你怕不怕？我不怕！我一点也不怕！
Lǎo mǎ, nǐ pà bú pà? Wǒ bú pà! Wǒ yìdiǎn yě bú pà!
Old horse, are you scared? I'm not! I'm not scared at all!

I don't believe a word Brom said… not one word.
- Ichabod Crane 我是老师，我读过很多书。书里说，鬼都是假的。
Wǒ shì lǎoshī, wǒ dú guò hěn duō shū. Shū lǐ shuō, guǐ dōu shì jiǎ de.
I'm a teacher, I've read lots of books. The books say ghosts aren't real.
- Ichabod Crane 可是……我读过的书里，也有很多很多鬼。
Kěshì… wǒ dú guò de shū lǐ, yě yǒu hěn duō hěn duō guǐ.
But… the books I've read have lots and lots of ghosts in them too.
- Ichabod Crane 现在我只想要一碗热汤，一张床，和一个亮亮的房间。
Xiànzài wǒ zhǐ xiǎng yào yì wǎn rè tāng, yì zhāng chuáng, hé yí gè liàng liàng de fángjiān.
Right now all I want is a bowl of hot soup, a bed, and a bright room.
- Ichabod Crane 可是，为什么我一直在想那座桥？
Kěshì, wèishénme wǒ yìzhí zài xiǎng nà zuò qiáo?
But why can't I stop thinking about that bridge?
- Ichabod Crane 前面有一棵大树……它像一只大手！
Qiánmiàn yǒu yì kē dà shù… tā xiàng yì zhī dà shǒu!
There's a big tree ahead… it looks like a giant hand!
- Ichabod Crane 树，只是树。树不会动，树不会动……
Shù, zhǐshì shù. Shù bú huì dòng, shù bú huì dòng…
A tree, it's only a tree. Trees don't move, trees don't move…
- Ichabod Crane 老马，你为什么不走了？前面有一条小河……
Lǎo mǎ, nǐ wèishénme bù zǒu le? Qiánmiàn yǒu yì tiáo xiǎo hé…
Old horse, why did you stop? There's a little stream ahead…
- Ichabod Crane 河边有一个黑色的东西！它……它在看我！
Hé biān yǒu yí gè hēisè de dōngxi! Tā… tā zài kàn wǒ!
There's something black by the stream! It's… it's looking at me!
- Ichabod Crane 喂……谁在那儿？
Wèi… shuí zài nàr?
Hello… who's there?
- Ichabod Crane 是……是一个人。他骑着一匹很大的黑马。
Shì… shì yí gè rén. Tā qí zhe yì pǐ hěn dà de hēi mǎ.
It's… it's a man. He's riding a very big black horse.
- Ichabod Crane 晚上好，先生。你……你也回家吗？
Wǎnshang hǎo, xiānsheng. Nǐ… nǐ yě huíjiā ma?
Good evening, sir. Are you… are you going home too?
- Ichabod Crane 先生？你为什么不说话？你的……你的头……
Xiānsheng? Nǐ wèishénme bù shuōhuà? Nǐ de… nǐ de tóu…
Sir? Why don't you talk? Your… your head…
- Ichabod Crane 你的头在你的手里！
Nǐ de tóu zài nǐ de shǒu lǐ!
Your head is in your hand!
- The Headless Horseman 老师……我的头在这儿。你的头，还在吗？
Lǎoshī… wǒ de tóu zài zhèr. Nǐ de tóu, hái zài ma?
Teacher… my head is right here. Is yours still there?
- Ichabod Crane 在！在！我的头在！我的头在这儿！
Zài! Zài! Wǒ de tóu zài! Wǒ de tóu zài zhèr!
Yes! Yes! My head is here! My head is right here!
- The Headless Horseman 那好……我们一起走吧。
Nà hǎo… wǒmen yìqǐ zǒu ba.
Then that's fine… let's ride together.
- Ichabod Crane 老马，走！快走！
Lǎo mǎ, zǒu! Kuài zǒu!
Old horse, go! Go faster!
- Ichabod Crane 老马！你是马，不是慢慢走的老爷爷！
Lǎo mǎ! Nǐ shì mǎ, búshì mànmàn zǒu de lǎo yéye!
Old horse! You're a horse, not a slow old grandpa!
- The Headless Horseman 老师，你的马真慢。我只是慢慢走，也跟得上。
Lǎoshī, nǐ de mǎ zhēn màn. Wǒ zhǐshì mànmàn zǒu, yě gēn de shàng.
Teacher, your horse is so slow. I'm only walking, and I can keep up.
- Ichabod Crane 别跟着我！我给你鸡！我给你猪！
Bié gēn zhe wǒ! Wǒ gěi nǐ jī! Wǒ gěi nǐ zhū!
Don't follow me! I'll give you chickens! I'll give you pigs!
- The Headless Horseman 我不要鸡，也不要猪。老师，我有一个礼物给你。
Wǒ búyào jī, yě búyào zhū. Lǎoshī, wǒ yǒu yí gè lǐwù gěi nǐ.
I don't want chickens, and I don't want pigs. Teacher, I have a gift for you.
- Ichabod Crane 不要！老马，跑！快跑啊！
Búyào! Lǎo mǎ, pǎo! Kuài pǎo a!
No! Old horse, run! Run!
- Ichabod Crane 他还在后面！他的马，比我的马快多了！
Tā hái zài hòumiàn! Tā de mǎ, bǐ wǒ de mǎ kuài duō le!
He's still behind me! His horse is much faster than mine!
- Ichabod Crane 桥！前面就是桥！布罗姆说，鬼过不了桥！
Qiáo! Qiánmiàn jiùshì qiáo! Bùluómǔ shuō, guǐ guò bù liǎo qiáo!
The bridge! The bridge is just ahead! Brom said ghosts can't cross the bridge!
- The Headless Horseman 过桥？老师……我的礼物，你还没有拿到呢。
Guò qiáo? Lǎoshī… wǒ de lǐwù, nǐ hái méiyǒu nádào ne.
Cross the bridge? Teacher… you haven't received my gift yet.
