Ichabod races for the bridge with the rider close behind him. By morning, the teacher is gone, and only a hat and a smashed pumpkin are left.

One, two, three… we made it! We crossed the bridge!

My hat! My hat flew off! Forget it, I don't need a hat!
- The Headless Horseman 老师，别怕。我只是想给你一个礼物。
Lǎoshī, bié pà. Wǒ zhǐshì xiǎng gěi nǐ yí gè lǐwù.
Teacher, don't be afraid. I only want to give you a gift.
- Ichabod Crane 不要！我不要礼物！我什么都不要！
Búyào! Wǒ búyào lǐwù! Wǒ shénme dōu búyào!
No! I don't want a gift! I don't want anything!
- The Headless Horseman 接住。我要扔了。
Jiē zhù. Wǒ yào rēng le.
Catch. I'm going to throw it.
- Ichabod Crane 啊！！

- Narrator 第二天早上，克兰老师不见了。人们在教堂旁的桥边，只找到了他的帽子。
Dì'èr tiān zǎoshang, Kèlán lǎoshī bújiàn le. Rénmen zài jiàotáng páng de qiáo biān, zhǐ zhǎodào le tā de màozi.
The next morning, Teacher Crane was gone. On the bridge by the church, people found only his hat.
- Katrina Van Tassel 这是克兰先生的帽子……他去哪儿了？
Zhè shì Kèlán xiānsheng de màozi… tā qù nǎr le?
This is Mr. Crane's hat… where did he go?
- Brom Bones 也许，他遇到了新朋友。一个没有头的朋友。
Yěxǔ, tā yùdào le xīn péngyou. Yí gè méiyǒu tóu de péngyou.
Maybe he met a new friend. A friend with no head.
- Mr. Van Tassel 你们看！帽子旁边，有一个碎了的南瓜。
Nǐmen kàn! Màozi pángbiān, yǒu yí gè suì le de nánguā.
Look! Next to the hat, there's a smashed pumpkin.
- Katrina Van Tassel 南瓜？布罗姆，你怎么在笑？
Nánguā? Bùluómǔ, nǐ zěnme zài xiào?
A pumpkin? Brom, why are you smiling?
- Brom Bones 我？没有啊！我只是……很难过。
Wǒ? Méiyǒu a! Wǒ zhǐshì… hěn nánguò.
Me? No I'm not! I'm just… very sad.
- Old Grandmother 那个碎了的东西，不是南瓜。那是无头骑士的头！
Nàge suì le de dōngxi, búshì nánguā. Nà shì wútóu qíshì de tóu!
That smashed thing is not a pumpkin. That is the Headless Horseman's head!
- A Schoolboy 克兰老师不来了吗？那我们不用读书了！
Kèlán lǎoshī bù lái le ma? Nà wǒmen búyòng dúshū le!
Teacher Crane isn't coming back? Then we don't have to study!
- Mr. Van Tassel 孩子，别笑。你的老师，可能被鬼带走了。
Háizi, bié xiào. Nǐ de lǎoshī, kěnéng bèi guǐ dài zǒu le.
Child, don't laugh. Your teacher may have been taken away by a ghost.
- Old Grandmother 桥边有马的脚印。鬼的马，也有脚印吗？
Qiáo biān yǒu mǎ de jiǎoyìn. Guǐ de mǎ, yě yǒu jiǎoyìn ma?
There are horse tracks by the bridge. Do a ghost's horses leave tracks?
- Brom Bones 当然有！鬼的马，也要走路嘛！
Dāngrán yǒu! Guǐ de mǎ, yě yào zǒulù ma!
Of course they do! Even a ghost's horse has to walk!
- Katrina Van Tassel 克兰先生很好玩。我会想他的。
Kèlán xiānsheng hěn hǎo wán. Wǒ huì xiǎng tā de.
Mr. Crane was funny. I'll miss him.
- Mr. Van Tassel 有人说，鬼把他带走了。也有人说，他去了很远的城市。
Yǒurén shuō, guǐ bǎ tā dài zǒu le. Yě yǒurén shuō, tā qù le hěn yuǎn de chéngshì.
Some say a ghost took him. Others say he went to a faraway city.
- Brom Bones 这个碎南瓜太难看了。我把它扔到河里吧！
Zhège suì nánguā tài nánkàn le. Wǒ bǎ tā rēng dào hé lǐ ba!
This smashed pumpkin looks awful. Let me throw it in the river!
- Katrina Van Tassel 不行！布罗姆，你为什么想扔它？
Bù xíng! Bùluómǔ, nǐ wèishénme xiǎng rēng tā?
No! Brom, why do you want to throw it away?
- Brom Bones 因为……南瓜会让大家想起鬼！对，就是这样！
Yīnwèi… nánguā huì ràng dàjiā xiǎngqǐ guǐ! Duì, jiùshì zhèyàng!
Because… a pumpkin will remind everyone of ghosts! Yes, that's it!
- Mr. Van Tassel 好了。我们把帽子放在教堂里，等克兰先生回来。
Hǎo le. Wǒmen bǎ màozi fàng zài jiàotáng lǐ, děng Kèlán xiānsheng huílái.
All right. We'll put the hat in the church and wait for Mr. Crane to come back.
- Old Grandmother 我说，他还在这座桥边……你听，是不是有人在叫？
Wǒ shuō, tā hái zài zhè zuò qiáo biān… nǐ tīng, shì búshì yǒurén zài jiào?
I say he's still by this bridge… listen, is somebody calling?
- Katrina Van Tassel 不要说了。我想回家。
Búyào shuō le. Wǒ xiǎng huíjiā.
Stop it. I want to go home.
- Brom Bones 我送你回家。今晚，我去你家吃饭，好吗？
Wǒ sòng nǐ huíjiā. Jīnwǎn, wǒ qù nǐ jiā chīfàn, hǎo ma?
I'll take you home. Tonight I'll have dinner at your house, all right?
- Katrina Van Tassel 好啊。可是我们今天没有派。
Hǎo a. Kěshì wǒmen jīntiān méiyǒu pài.
Yes. But we don't have any pie today.
- Brom Bones 没有派？我的肚子在叫了。那有南瓜吗？
Méiyǒu pài? Wǒ de dùzi zài jiào le. Nà yǒu nánguā ma?
No pie? My stomach is growling. Then do you have any pumpkin?
