A talking crow leads Gerda to a palace, where a prince and princess give her a golden carriage. In the dark forest, the carriage stops.

Mr. Crow, have you seen a boy? His name is Kai.
- Crow 男孩？有！有个男孩，去了公主的家！
Nánhái? Yǒu! Yǒu gè nánhái, qù le gōngzhǔ de jiā!
A boy? Yes! A boy went to the princess's home!
- Gerda 是凯！一定是凯！带我去吧！
Shì Kǎi! Yídìng shì Kǎi! Dài wǒ qù ba!
It's Kai! It must be Kai! Take me there!
- Crow 嘘！小声一点。他们在睡觉。
Xū! Xiǎoshēng yìdiǎn. Tāmen zài shuìjiào.
Shh! Quietly. They're asleep.
- Gerda 好大的家！这是公主的家吗？
Hǎo dà de jiā! Zhè shì gōngzhǔ de jiā ma?
What a huge home! Is this the princess's home?
- Princess 谁在那儿？……是一个小女孩？
Shéi zài nàr? … Shì yí gè xiǎo nǚhái?
Who's there? ...A little girl?
- Gerda 公主，对不起！我来找凯。他是我的朋友。
Gōngzhǔ, duìbuqǐ! Wǒ lái zhǎo Kǎi. Tā shì wǒ de péngyou.
Princess, I'm sorry! I came to look for Kai. He's my friend.
- Prince 我不是凯。你看，我是个王子。
Wǒ bú shì Kǎi. Nǐ kàn, wǒ shì gè wángzǐ.
I'm not Kai. Look, I'm a prince.
- Crow 咦？我以为他是凯……对不起。
Yí? Wǒ yǐwéi tā shì Kǎi… Duìbuqǐ.
Huh? I thought he was Kai... Sorry.
- Gerda 你不是凯……没关系。
Nǐ bú shì Kǎi… Méi guānxi.
You're not Kai... It's all right.
- Princess 别难过。你走了很远的路吗？
Bié nánguò. Nǐ zǒu le hěn yuǎn de lù ma?
Don't be sad. Have you walked a long way?
- Gerda 我走了很久。我没有鞋，也很冷。
Wǒ zǒu le hěn jiǔ. Wǒ méiyǒu xié, yě hěn lěng.
I've walked a long time. I have no shoes, and I'm cold.
- Princess 来人！给她鞋子！还有新衣服！
Lái rén! Gěi tā xiézi! Hái yǒu xīn yīfu!
Servants! Bring her shoes! And new clothes!
- Prince 还有我的金车。路上不冷。
Hái yǒu wǒ de jīn chē. Lù shàng bù lěng.
And my golden carriage too. It won't be cold on the road.
- Crow 我说对了吧？我是最好的乌鸦！
Wǒ shuō duì le ba? Wǒ shì zuì hǎo de wūyā!
See? I was right about the palace! I'm the best crow ever!
- Gerda 金车！鞋子好大，好热！我不冷了！
Jīn chē! Xiézi hǎo dà, hǎo rè! Wǒ bù lěng le!
A golden carriage! The boots are so big and so warm! I'm not cold anymore!
- Gerda 凯，等我。我会找到你。
Kǎi, děng wǒ. Wǒ huì zhǎodào nǐ.
Kai, wait for me. I will find you.
- Gerda 月亮好大。凯也看见月亮吗？
Yuèliang hǎo dà. Kǎi yě kànjiàn yuèliang ma?
The moon is so big. Is Kai looking at the moon too?
- Robber 站住！那辆车是金子做的！
Zhànzhù! Nà liàng chē shì jīnzi zuò de!
Halt! That carriage is made of gold!
- Gerda 啊！是强盗！车停了！
Ā! Shì qiángdào! Chē tíng le!
Oh! Robbers! The carriage stopped!
- Robber 快下来，小孩！把金子给我们！
Kuài xiàlái, xiǎohái! Bǎ jīnzi gěi wǒmen!
Get down, kid! Hand over the gold!
- Gerda 我……我只是要去找我的朋友。
Wǒ… wǒ zhǐshì yào qù zhǎo wǒ de péngyou.
I... I'm only trying to find my friend.
- Robber Girl 别动她！我是强盗女孩！这个女孩是我的！
Bié dòng tā! Wǒ shì qiángdào nǚhái! Zhège nǚhái shì wǒ de!
Don't touch her! I'm the robber girl! This girl is mine!
