A Lapp woman writes a letter on a fish, and a Finn woman says Gerda's heart is her power. Alone in the snow, Gerda faces the Queen's guards.

The reindeer ran for many days. They came to a small house.

Oh! You must be freezing! Come in, quickly!
- Reindeer 老奶奶，请帮帮这个小女孩。她要去女王的家。
Lǎo nǎinai, qǐng bāngbang zhège xiǎo nǚhái. Tā yào qù nǚwáng de jiā.
Grandma, please help this little girl. She wants to go to the Queen's home.

The Queen's home? That's far! It's many more days.
- Gerda 我不怕远。我一定要找到凯。
Wǒ bú pà yuǎn. Wǒ yídìng yào zhǎodào Kǎi.
I'm not afraid of far. I will find Kai.
- Lapp Woman 我帮不了你。……我写一封信，给我的朋友。
Wǒ bāng bù liǎo nǐ. … Wǒ xiě yì fēng xìn, gěi wǒ de péngyou.
I can't help you myself. ...I'll write a letter to my friend.
- Lapp Woman 她住得很北。她知道很多事。
Tā zhù de hěn běi. Tā zhīdào hěn duō shì.
She lives even farther north. She knows a great many things.
- Lapp Woman 来，我写在这条鱼上。
Lái, wǒ xiě zài zhè tiáo yú shàng.
Here, I'll write it on this fish.
- Gerda 鱼？您在鱼上写信？
Yú? Nín zài yú shàng xiě xìn?
A fish? You write letters on fish?
- Lapp Woman 我没有纸！鱼很好用！可是不能吃！
Wǒ méiyǒu zhǐ! Yú hěn hǎo yòng! Kěshì bù néng chī!
I have no paper! A fish works fine! But don't eat it!
- Finn Woman 鱼？信在鱼上？让我看看！
Yú? Xìn zài yú shàng? Ràng wǒ kànkan!
A fish? The letter is on a fish? Let me see!
- Reindeer 请你帮帮她。她想带凯回家。
Qǐng nǐ bāngbang tā. Tā xiǎng dài Kǎi huíjiā.
Please help her. She wants to bring Kai home.
- Finn Woman 我知道凯。他的眼睛里和心里，有镜子的碎片。
Wǒ zhīdào Kǎi. Tā de yǎnjing lǐ hé xīn lǐ, yǒu jìngzi de suìpiàn.
I know about Kai. There are pieces of the mirror in his eye and his heart.
- Finn Woman 碎片让他的心变冷了。
Suìpiàn ràng tā de xīn biàn lěng le.
The pieces have made his heart cold.
- Reindeer 请你给她本事！她还是个小女孩！
Qǐng nǐ gěi tā běnshi! Tā hái shi gè xiǎo nǚhái!
Please give her some power! She's still a little girl!
- Finn Woman 我给不了。她已经有本事了。
Wǒ gěi bù liǎo. Tā yǐjīng yǒu běnshi le.
I can't. She already has power.
- Finn Woman 你看，人和动物都帮她。她的心是好的。
Nǐ kàn, rén hé dòngwù dōu bāng tā. Tā de xīn shì hǎo de.
Look, people and animals all help her. Her heart is good.
- Finn Woman 去女王的花园。找红色的小树。放下她，马上回来。
Qù nǚwáng de huāyuán. Zhǎo hóngsè de xiǎo shù. Fàng xià tā, mǎshàng huílái.
Go to the Queen's garden. Look for the small tree with red berries. Put her down and come straight back.
- Gerda 谢谢您。我记住了。
Xièxie nín. Wǒ jìzhù le.
Thank you. I'll remember.
- Gerda 好大的雪……我看不清路。
Hǎo dà de xuě… Wǒ kàn bù qīng lù.
So much snow... I can't see the path.
- Reindeer 红色的小树就在这儿。我要走了。
Hóngsè de xiǎo shù jiù zài zhèr. Wǒ yào zǒu le.
There's the small red tree. I have to go now.
- Gerda 谢谢你，驯鹿。你是我的好朋友。
Xièxie nǐ, xùnlù. Nǐ shì wǒ de hǎo péngyou.
Thank you, reindeer. You're my good friend.
- Gerda 那些大雪花……它们在动！
Nàxiē dà xuěhuā… Tāmen zài dòng!
Those big snowflakes... they're moving!
- Gerda 我怕。可是我不能回去。
Wǒ pà. Kěshì wǒ bù néng huíqù.
I'm scared. But I can't go back.
- Gerda 看！我的热气，变成了小天使！
Kàn! Wǒ de rèqì, biàn chéng le xiǎo tiānshǐ!
Look! My warm breath is turning into little angels!
- Gerda 小天使在我身边。雪花不能过来了！
Xiǎo tiānshǐ zài wǒ shēnbiān. Xuěhuā bù néng guòlái le!
The little angels are beside me. The snowflakes can't come close!
- Gerda 那就是冰雪女王的家……凯，你在吗？
Nà jiù shì bīngxuě nǚwáng de jiā… Kǎi, nǐ zài ma?
That must be the Snow Queen's home... Kai, are you there?
