Wild rabbits laugh because the toy rabbit cannot jump, but he is sure he is loved. Then the boy falls sick, and all the old toys must leave.

- Grey Rabbit 哈哈哈！你看，他的腿是软软的！
Hāhāhā! Nǐ kàn, tā de tuǐ shì ruǎnruǎn de!
Ha ha ha! Look, his legs are floppy!
- Brown Rabbit 你不是兔子吧？兔子都会跑，都会跳！
Nǐ bú shì tùzi ba? Tùzi dōu huì pǎo, dōu huì tiào!
You're not a rabbit, are you? Rabbits all run and jump!

Wǒ shì tùzi! Nánhái shuō, wǒ shì zhēn de tùzi!
I am a rabbit! The boy said I'm a Real rabbit!

Zhēn de tùzi huì pǎo, huì tiào, huì wán. Nǐ ne?
Real rabbits run, jump and play. What about you?

Wǒ bú huì pǎo, yě bú huì tiào, wǒ zhǐ huì děng.
I can't run and I can't jump. I can only wait.
- The Velveteen Rabbit 可是男孩爱我，所以我不难过。
Kěshì nánhái ài wǒ, suǒyǐ wǒ bù nánguò.
But the boy loves me, so I'm not sad.
- Brown Rabbit 哈哈，你真好笑！可是我很喜欢你。
Hāhā, nǐ zhēn hǎoxiào! Kěshì wǒ hěn xǐhuan nǐ.
Ha ha, you're so funny! But I like you a lot.
- Nanny 找到了！小兔子在这儿！你在草里啊！

Found him! The little rabbit is here! You were in the grass!
- Grey Rabbit 快跑！有人来了！我们走！
Kuài pǎo! Yǒu rén lái le! Wǒmen zǒu!
Run! Someone's coming! Let's go!
- Narrator 后来，男孩生病了。他发烧了好几天。

Later, the boy became sick. He had a fever for several days.
- The Boy 小兔子……我好热，我好累。

Little rabbit... I'm so hot and so tired.
- The Velveteen Rabbit 别怕，男孩。我在这儿，我不走。
Bié pà, nánhái. Wǒ zài zhèr, wǒ bù zǒu.
Don't be scared, boy. I'm here. I'm not leaving.
- Nanny 医生说，男孩很快会好的。
Yīshēng shuō, nánhái hěn kuài huì hǎo de.
The doctor says the boy will soon get better.
- The Boy 小兔子，你要和我在一起，不要走。
Xiǎo tùzi, nǐ yào hé wǒ zài yìqǐ, búyào zǒu.
Little rabbit, stay with me. Don't go.
- The Velveteen Rabbit 好，我在这儿。我哪儿也不去。
Hǎo, wǒ zài zhèr. Wǒ nǎr yě bú qù.
Yes, I'm here. I'm going nowhere.
- Nanny 医生说，男孩好了，旧玩具不能留下。
Yīshēng shuō, nánhái hǎo le, jiù wánjù bù néng liúxià.
The doctor says the boy is well, and the old toys cannot stay.
- Nanny 都拿出去！这只旧兔子也是，拿出去吧。
Dōu ná chūqù! Zhè zhī jiù tùzi yě shì, ná chūqù ba.
Take them all out! This old rabbit too. Take him out.
- The Velveteen Rabbit 这是哪儿？好黑啊，我什么都看不见。
Zhè shì nǎr? Hǎo hēi a, wǒ shénme dōu kàn bú jiàn.
Where is this? It's so dark, I can't see anything.
- The Velveteen Rabbit 老马……老马，你也在这儿吗？
