The Tin Man and the Lion

Oil frees the Tin Woodman, who wants a heart. Then a huge lion leaps out of the dark and roars, but he is hiding a very silly secret.

Why were you standing here?
- Tin Woodman 下雨了，我不能动。我一个人站了一年。
Xià yǔ le, wǒ bù néng dòng. Wǒ yí gè rén zhàn le yì nián.
It rained and I couldn't move. I stood here all by myself for a whole year.
- Scarecrow 一年？太久了！
Yì nián? Tài jiǔ le!
A year? That's too long!
- Tin Woodman 我是铁皮做的。可是，我没有心。
Wǒ shì tiěpí zuò de. Kěshì, wǒ méiyǒu xīn.
I am made of tin. But I have no heart.
- Dorothy 你没有心？
Nǐ méiyǒu xīn?
You have no heart?
- Tin Woodman 没有。我不会爱别人，也不会哭。
Méiyǒu. Wǒ bú huì ài biérén, yě bú huì kū.
None. I can't love anyone, and I can't cry.
- Scarecrow 那你也去找巫师吧！
Nà nǐ yě qù zhǎo wūshī ba!
Then come and find the Wizard too!
- Tin Woodman 好！我想要一个心！我跟你们走！
Hǎo! Wǒ xiǎng yào yí gè xīn! Wǒ gēn nǐmen zǒu!
Yes! I want a heart! I'll go with you!
- Dorothy 太好了！我们三个人一起走！
Tài hǎo le! Wǒmen sān gè rén yìqǐ zǒu!
Wonderful! The three of us will go together!
- Narrator 夜里，路很黑，也很安静。
Yè lǐ, lù hěn hēi, yě hěn ānjìng.
At night the road was dark and very quiet.
- Dorothy 你们听，是不是有声音？
Nǐmen tīng, shì bu shì yǒu shēngyīn?
Listen. Do you hear something?
- Cowardly Lion 我是这儿最大的动物！你们怕不怕我？
Wǒ shì zhèr zuì dà de dòngwù! Nǐmen pà bu pà wǒ?
I am the biggest animal here! Are you afraid of me?
- Tin Woodman 多萝西，站在我后边！
Duōluóxī, zhàn zài wǒ hòubian!
Dorothy, stand behind me!
- Cowardly Lion 那只小狗，我要吃了它！你们别动！
Nà zhī xiǎo gǒu, wǒ yào chī le tā! Nǐmen bié dòng!
That little dog! I'm going to eat it! Nobody move!
- Toto 汪汪！
Wāngwāng!
Woof woof!
- Dorothy 不可以！你太坏了！
Bù kěyǐ! Nǐ tài huài le!
No, you won't! You're too mean!
- Cowardly Lion 哎哟！你打我！我的脸好疼啊！
Āiyō! Nǐ dǎ wǒ! Wǒ de liǎn hǎo téng a!
Ow! You hit me! My face hurts!
- Dorothy 你这么大，为什么要吃这么小的狗？
Nǐ zhème dà, wèishénme yào chī zhème xiǎo de gǒu?
You're so big. Why would you eat such a little dog?
- Cowardly Lion 对不起……我不是真的狮子。我什么都怕。
Duìbuqǐ… wǒ bú shì zhēn de shīzi. Wǒ shénme dōu pà.
I'm sorry... I'm not a real lion. I'm afraid of everything.
- Scarecrow 狮子也会怕？
Shīzi yě huì pà?
A lion can be afraid?
- Cowardly Lion 我怕黑，怕人，怕大风，也怕小狗！
Wǒ pà hēi, pà rén, pà dàfēng, yě pà xiǎo gǒu!
I'm afraid of the dark, of people, of strong winds, and even of little dogs!
- Tin Woodman 你想要什么？请你告诉我们。
Nǐ xiǎng yào shénme? Qǐng nǐ gàosu wǒmen.
What do you want? Please tell us.
- Cowardly Lion 我想不怕。巫师能帮我吗？
Wǒ xiǎng bú pà. Wūshī néng bāng wǒ ma?
I want to stop being afraid. Can the Wizard help me?
- Dorothy 一起去问问他！走吧，狮子！
Yìqǐ qù wènwen tā! Zǒu ba, Shīzi!
Let's go and ask him together! Come on, Lion!
- Scarecrow 你们看！前边有一座绿色的城！那是翡翠城吗？
Nǐmen kàn! Qiánbiān yǒu yí zuò lǜsè de chéng! Nà shì Fěicuìchéng ma?
Look, everyone! There's a green city ahead! Is that the Emerald City?
