Echo talked too much, so a goddess made her repeat other people's words. Then she met a boy who loved only himself.

A mountain girl named Echo lived in the hills. She loved to talk.
- Echo 女神！女神！我跟你说！山上有花，有鸟，还有大兔子！
Nǚshén! Nǚshén! Wǒ gēn nǐ shuō! Shān shàng yǒu huā, yǒu niǎo, hái yǒu dà tùzi!
Goddess! Goddess! Listen! There are flowers on the hill, and birds, and a big rabbit!
- Hera 回声，我在找我的丈夫。你看见他了吗？
Huíshēng, wǒ zài zhǎo wǒ de zhàngfu. Nǐ kànjiàn tā le ma?
Echo, I'm looking for my husband. Have you seen him?

Enough! You talk and talk! Now I can't find him!
- Hera 从今天起，你这个爱说话的女孩，只能说别人的最后几个字！
Cóng jīntiān qǐ, nǐ zhège ài shuōhuà de nǚhái, zhǐ néng shuō biérén de zuìhòu jǐ gè zì!
From today on, you chatterbox, you can only say the last words other people say!

- Hera 我说的话，你听见了吗？

- Narrator 有一天，山里来了一个年轻人，他叫纳西索斯。回声看见了他。
Yǒu yì tiān, shān lǐ láile yí gè niánqīng rén, tā jiào Nàxīsuǒsī. Huíshēng kànjiàn le tā.
One day a young man came into the mountains. His name was Narcissus. Echo saw him.
- Narcissus 我是山里最好看的人！谁不爱我？
Wǒ shì shān lǐ zuì hǎokàn de rén! Shéi bú ài wǒ?
I'm the best-looking person in these mountains! Who doesn't love me?
- Narcissus 喂！山里有人吗？
Wèi! Shān lǐ yǒu rén ma?
Hey! Is anyone in these mountains?
- Echo 有人吗！
Yǒu rén ma!
Anyone there!
- Narcissus 谁在那儿？
Shéi zài nàr?
Who's there?
- Echo 在那儿！
Zài nàr!
Over there!
- Narcissus 来这儿！好吗？我们一起玩！
Lái zhèr! Hǎo ma? Wǒmen yìqǐ wán!
Come here! Okay? Let's play together!
- Echo 一起玩！
Yìqǐ wán!
Play together!
- Narcissus 啊！你在学我说话！
Ā! Nǐ zài xué wǒ shuōhuà!
Ha! You're copying me!
- Narcissus 我不喜欢你。你走开！
Wǒ bù xǐhuan nǐ. Nǐ zǒukāi!
I don't like you. Go away!
- Echo 走开……

- Narrator 后来，纳西索斯一个人来到水边。天很热。
Hòulái, Nàxīsuǒsī yí gè rén láidào shuǐ biān. Tiān hěn rè.
Later, Narcissus came to the water's edge alone. It was a hot day.
- Narcissus 好热！我要喝一点儿水。
Hǎo rè! Wǒ yào hē yìdiǎnr shuǐ.
It's so hot! I need a drink.
- Narcissus 水里有一个人！他好好看！
Shuǐ lǐ yǒu yí gè rén! Tā hǎo hǎokàn!
There's someone in the water! He's so handsome!
- Narcissus 你好！你是谁？我爱你！你也爱我吗？
Nǐ hǎo! Nǐ shì shéi? Wǒ ài nǐ! Nǐ yě ài wǒ ma?
Hello! Who are you? I love you! Do you love me too?
- Narcissus 你不说话……我不走了。我要天天看你。
Nǐ bù shuōhuà… Wǒ bù zǒu le. Wǒ yào tiāntiān kàn nǐ.
You don't speak... I'm not leaving. I'll look at you every day.
- Echo 看你……

- Narrator 他一直没有走。后来，水边开出了小白花。
Tā yìzhí méiyǒu zǒu. Hòulái, shuǐ biān kāi chū le xiǎo bái huā.
He never left. Later, small white flowers bloomed by the water.
- Hermes 哎呀，又有花了！我得走了！山下有个女孩，说她织得比女神好！
Āiyā, yòu yǒu huā le! Wǒ děi zǒu le! Shān xià yǒu gè nǚhái, shuō tā zhī de bǐ nǚshén hǎo!
Oh, a new flower! I have to run! There's a girl down the hill who says she weaves better than a goddess!
