Wings of Wax
蜡做的翅膀
Daedalus and his son Icarus are stuck on an island, so Daedalus builds wings. He warns Icarus: not too high, not too low.

Long ago, Daedalus and his son lived by the sea. They missed home very much.
- Icarus 爸爸，我们什么时候回家？我好想家！
Bàba, wǒmen shénme shíhou huí jiā? Wǒ hǎo xiǎng jiā!
Dad, when are we going home? I miss home so much!
- Daedalus 国王不让我们走。船都不让我们上。
Guówáng bú ràng wǒmen zǒu. Chuán dōu bú ràng wǒmen shàng.
The king won't let us leave. He won't let us on any ship.

Then how do we leave? We don't have a ship!
- Daedalus 伊卡洛斯，你看，天上有鸟！
Yīkǎluòsī, nǐ kàn, tiān shàng yǒu niǎo!
Icarus, look! Birds in the sky!
- Icarus 鸟怎么了？
Niǎo zěnme le?
What about birds?
- Daedalus 鸟可以飞走。它们不用船，我们也可以！
Niǎo kěyǐ fēi zǒu. Tāmen bú yòng chuán, wǒmen yě kěyǐ!
Birds can fly away. They don't need a ship. Neither do we!
- Icarus 我们不是鸟啊！我们没有翅膀！
Wǒmen bú shì niǎo a! Wǒmen méiyǒu chìbǎng!
But we're not birds! We don't have wings!
- Daedalus 对！我们可以做翅膀！
Duì! Wǒmen kěyǐ zuò chìbǎng!
Yes! We can make wings!
- Icarus 翅膀？真的吗？爸爸，我要飞！
Chìbǎng? Zhēn de ma? Bàba, wǒ yào fēi!
Wings? Really? Dad, I want to fly!
- Icarus 这么多羽毛！我可以拿吗？
Zhème duō yǔmáo! Wǒ kěyǐ ná ma?
So many feathers! Can I pick them up?
- Daedalus 我用蜡和羽毛做翅膀。你拿羽毛来。
Wǒ yòng là hé yǔmáo zuò chìbǎng. Nǐ ná yǔmáo lái.
I'll use wax and feathers to make the wings. Bring me the feathers.
- Icarus 蜡怕什么？
Là pà shénme?
What is wax afraid of?
- Daedalus 蜡怕热。太热，翅膀就坏了。
Là pà rè. Tài rè, chìbǎng jiù huài le.
Wax is afraid of heat. If it gets too hot, the wings will fall apart.
- Daedalus 听好！不要飞太高！也不要飞太低！
Tīng hǎo! Bú yào fēi tài gāo! Yě bú yào fēi tài dī!
Listen! Don't fly too high! And don't fly too low!
- Icarus 飞太高，飞太低……知道了！
Fēi tài gāo, fēi tài dī… Zhīdào le!
Too high, too low... got it!
- Daedalus 跟着我。不要飞太快。
Gēnzhe wǒ. Bú yào fēi tài kuài.
Stay with me. Don't fly too fast.
- Icarus 好，好，好！爸爸，走吧！
Hǎo, hǎo, hǎo! Bàba, zǒu ba!
Yes, yes, yes! Dad, let's go!
- Icarus 我在飞！爸爸！我在飞！
Wǒ zài fēi! Bàba! Wǒ zài fēi!
I'm flying! Dad! I'm flying!
- Daedalus 很好！慢一点儿！看着我！
Hěn hǎo! Màn yìdiǎnr! Kànzhe wǒ!
Very good! Slower! Look at me!
- Icarus 天好高！太阳好大！我要去看太阳！
Tiān hǎo gāo! Tàiyáng hǎo dà! Wǒ yào qù kàn tàiyáng!
The sky is so high! The sun is so big! I want to see the sun!
- Daedalus 伊卡洛斯，不要！太高了！
Yīkǎluòsī, bú yào! Tài gāo le!
Icarus, no! Too high!
- Icarus 爸爸！我的翅膀……羽毛在掉！
Bàba! Wǒ de chìbǎng… yǔmáo zài diào!
Dad! My wings... the feathers are falling!
- Daedalus 伊卡洛斯！！
Yīkǎluòsī!
Icarus!
- Narrator 伊卡洛斯掉进了海里。
Yīkǎluòsī diào jìn le hǎi lǐ.
Icarus fell into the sea.
- Daedalus 我的儿子……我的儿子……你在哪儿？
Wǒ de érzi… wǒ de érzi… Nǐ zài nǎr?
My son... my son... where are you?
- Hermes 别哭。那片海，以后叫伊卡洛斯海。
Bié kū. Nà piàn hǎi, yǐhòu jiào Yīkǎluòsī Hǎi.
Don't cry. That sea will be called the Icarian Sea from now on.
- Hermes 我还要去找一位妈妈。她找不到她的女儿了。
Wǒ hái yào qù zhǎo yí wèi māma. Tā zhǎo bú dào tā de nǚ'ér le.
I still have to find a mother. She can't find her daughter.
