八卦炉
Knives and fire can't hurt the monkey, so Laozi shuts him in his eight-sided furnace for forty-nine days. What comes out is not what anyone expected.

- The Jade Emperor 这只猴子，刀也不怕，火也不怕！我们怎么办？
Zhè zhī hóuzi, dāo yě bú pà, huǒ yě bú pà! Wǒmen zěnme bàn?
Knives don't scare this monkey, and neither does fire! What are we going to do?
- Laozi, the Supreme Old Lord 陛下，他吃了我的金丹，所以什么都不怕。
Bìxià, tā chī le wǒ de jīndān, suǒyǐ shénme dōu bú pà.
Your Majesty, he ate my golden pills. That's why nothing can hurt him.

Put him in my eight-sided furnace and let it burn for forty-nine days! That way I'll get my golden pills back, too.
- The Jade Emperor 好！就这么办！
Hǎo! Jiù zhème bàn!
Good! Do it!
- Narrator 老君把大圣放进八卦炉，下面的火烧得很大。
Lǎojūn bǎ Dàshèng fàng jìn bāguàlú, xiàmiàn de huǒ shāo de hěn dà.
Laozi shut the Great Sage inside the eight-sided furnace, and a great fire roared beneath it.
- Sun Wukong 好热！好热！老君，快放老孙出去！
Hǎo rè! Hǎo rè! Lǎojūn, kuài fàng Lǎo Sūn chūqù!
Hot! Hot! Laozi, let Old Sun out of here!
- Laozi, the Supreme Old Lord 四十九天以后，我再放你出来。
Sìshíjiǔ tiān yǐhòu, wǒ zài fàng nǐ chūlái.
Forty-nine days from now, I'll let you out.
- Sun Wukong 这个八卦炉有八个边……啊，这边有风，没有火！老孙就坐在这里！
Zhège bāguàlú yǒu bā gè biān… a, zhè biān yǒu fēng, méiyǒu huǒ! Lǎo Sūn jiù zuò zài zhèlǐ!
This furnace has eight sides… Aha, this side has wind and no fire! Old Sun will sit right here!
- Sun Wukong 可是烟太大了……老孙的眼睛好疼，好红……
Kěshì yān tài dà le… Lǎo Sūn de yǎnjing hǎo téng, hǎo hóng…
But there's so much smoke… Old Sun's eyes sting, and they're burning red…
- Narrator 一天，两天……四十九天过去了。
Yì tiān, liǎng tiān… sìshíjiǔ tiān guòqù le.
One day, two days… forty-nine days went by.
- Laozi, the Supreme Old Lord 四十九天到了！打开八卦炉，看看猴子怎么样了！
Sìshíjiǔ tiān dào le! Dǎkāi bāguàlú, kànkan hóuzi zěnmeyàng le!
The forty-nine days are up! Open the furnace, and let's see what's become of that monkey!
- Sun Wukong 哈哈哈！老孙出来了！
Hāhāhā! Lǎo Sūn chūlái le!
Ha ha ha! Old Sun is out!
- Laozi, the Supreme Old Lord 你……你还好好的？你的眼睛怎么变成金色的了？
Nǐ… nǐ hái hǎohǎo de? Nǐ de yǎnjing zěnme biàn chéng jīnsè de le?
You… you're still in one piece? And why have your eyes turned gold?
- Sun Wukong 这叫火眼金睛！什么东西，老孙都看得清清楚楚！
Zhè jiào huǒyǎn jīnjīng! Shénme dōngxi, Lǎo Sūn dōu kàn de qīngqīngchuchǔ!
These are fiery golden eyes! Old Sun can see everything, clear as day!
- Sun Wukong 还有你的八卦炉，老孙一脚把它踢倒！
Hái yǒu nǐ de bāguàlú, Lǎo Sūn yì jiǎo bǎ tā tī dǎo!
And as for your furnace, Old Sun will kick it right over!
- Laozi, the Supreme Old Lord 啊！我的八卦炉！
A! Wǒ de bāguàlú!
No! My furnace!
- Sun Wukong 你们把老孙放在火里烧，今天，老孙就要大闹天宫！
Nǐmen bǎ Lǎo Sūn fàng zài huǒ lǐ shāo, jīntiān, Lǎo Sūn jiù yào dà nào Tiāngōng!
You threw Old Sun into the fire! Well, today Old Sun is going to raise havoc in heaven!
- Narrator 大圣拿着金箍棒，从东打到西，从南打到北。这就是有名的大闹天宫。
Dàshèng názhe jīn gū bàng, cóng dōng dǎ dào xī, cóng nán dǎ dào běi. Zhè jiù shì yǒumíng de dà nào Tiāngōng.
Golden staff in hand, the Great Sage fought his way from east to west and from south to north. This was the famous Havoc in Heaven.
- Sun Wukong 谁还敢来？玉帝，你出来！
Shéi hái gǎn lái? Yùdì, nǐ chūlái!
Who else wants a try? Jade Emperor, come out here!
- The Jade Emperor 快，快去西天，请如来佛祖来！
Kuài, kuài qù Xītiān, qǐng Rúlái Fózǔ lái!
Quick, go to the Western Heaven and bring the Buddha here!
