HSK 3 is where Chinese starts to feel like real reading: notices, chats, ads and short stories, with questions about what the writer means and not only what they said. The HSK 3 reading and vocabulary workbooks follow the HSK 3 list.

Around them are intermediate workbooks on the grammar that trips people up at this stage, like 被 sentences and directional complements, and on situations you can now handle in Chinese: renting a flat, writing a work email, using a chengyu without sounding odd. Take them slowly. One unit at a sitting, done properly, is worth more than three skimmed.
