These are Mandarin activity books for children of about 2 to 10, for use at home or in class with a grown-up. They cover first words for animals, food, colours, numbers, family and school, then pinyin, first characters and early reading.

Young children start by listening, pointing and colouring, and older ones trace, read and write. By the end of a book, a child can say its words and phrases, such as hello to the teacher and the names of things in a school bag. The rows below go by age, and the activity books give pinyin and English for every word, so the grown-up needs no Chinese.
