About these worksheets

These free Chinese character worksheets turn the words learners meet first into printable practice. Each sheet lists every word with tone-marked pinyin and an English meaning, then gives a stroke-order strip, a model character, tracing boxes and blank 田字格 (tián zì gé) boxes for writing from memory.

The HSK sets follow SayMei's HSK 1–3 course week by week, so a class can print the sheet that matches its lesson. Festival sheets cover Chinese New Year and the Lantern, Qingming, Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn festivals; topic sheets cover everyday words from colors and numbers to food, family and travel. Every page ends with a QR code that opens the same words for online practice.

Common questions

Are these Chinese character worksheets free?

Yes. Every worksheet here is free to print or save as a PDF, with no account, email or daily limit. Print as many copies as you like for home or class. A free SayMei account only adds saving your sheets and practice across devices.

Which Chinese worksheet should a beginner start with?

Start with HSK 1 week 1, Greetings & Introductions, or the First Characters and Numbers sheets: they use common characters with few strokes. Trace each character, say it aloud, then write it from memory in the blank boxes. Move on when a sheet feels easy.

How do I print a Chinese character worksheet?

Open a worksheet and press Print / Download PDF. On a computer the PDF opens ready to print or save; on a phone it goes to your share sheet for printing or Files. A4 or US Letter follows your country, and you can switch it before printing.

Can I change the words on a worksheet?

Yes. Press Change the words on any worksheet to open it in the generator, then add, remove or replace words, up to 20 per sheet. You can also switch to traditional characters, change the grid, or turn the sheet into a test with an answer key.
